I responded to an ad this past weekend on TUG in the bargain basement and the seller is using alliedtransfers.com. I've never heard of them and it looks like the domain name was created just a month or so ago (below). The postings have also already been deleted on TUG so I can't look up user name/reputation either. This may be completely legit but I definitely like to have my bases covered due to previous dealings with scammers. Any feedback would be great and appreciated in advance.

Are you trying to buy something from them or are you trying to "sell" something to them?

Not a good sign that the website is 1.5 months old.

If you have previous dealings with scammers, you are likely on their "lead lists." They share your name, email address, phone number, with their fellow scammers and charge them for it.

If TUG deleted their posts, it is very likely it's a scam. There are three red flags: 1) the website is 1.5 months old, 2) you have dealt with scammers before, and 3) their TUG posts are deleted.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I really appreciate this community. The ad was for 400K Wyndham points deeded at National Harbor for $300 plus transfer fees of $399. We previously bought a deed at National Harbor a couple of years ago for $1200 or so plus the Wyndham transfer fee. The transfer took forever due to the paper deed filing requirements with the county/city and I would never want to go through that for National Harbor again unless it was a reputable/recommended title transfer company. I appreciate the sanity check and am going to give this "deal" a hard pass.

just to clarify.

the individual posting these ads only joined this year, but all of their ads are for sale ads in various systems. Nothing in any of the ads ive seen mentions the closing company above etc. Personally unless the timeshare was free, id choose my own closing company to handle the deal and not one chosen by the seller (unless they were the same).

I share the concerns above about using a closing service that has only been in business a short time, and if the seller truly was looking to sell they could likely care less what closing company was used and if they demanded one in particular like this, I would certainly not move forward if there was money involved etc in the sale price etc.

if its free, well...i mean you dont really have a whole lot of skin in the game at that point so if its what you want you can roll the dice that closing will go smoothly.

Also 400k Natl harbor would ask for at least $2k on eBay.

for 2k, id certainly request to use a known closing company.
