Both Central 5th and Quin are still available for new year eve.

Sounds fun but not for me. If I see the ball drop it will be on TV.

We’ll be in W57th again this new years. We may try to “see” the ball drop from 7th Ave near 57th, in a spot where we can also see the Central Park fireworks. At least that’s the plan.

Are they doing the fireworks in central park this year? I read earlier in the month that they were cancelled due to it being too dry but hopefully that has changed as I was looking forward to seeing them.

I thought that was last year, but also could be this year as well.

Here’s groks answer:

No, there will not be New Year’s Eve fireworks in Central Park for the 2025-2026 celebration (December 31, 2025).
The traditional midnight fireworks display, organized by the New York Road Runners (NYRR) to kick off their annual Midnight Run, was canceled this year. The decision stemmed initially from historic drought conditions and fire risks in NYC parks, which led to restrictions on pyrotechnics. A planned alternative drone show was also scrapped later due to safety concerns following a separate drone incident.
Many sources, including reports from CBS New York, NBC New York, Time Out, and 6sqft, confirm the cancellation for this specific year. While Central Park often hosts fireworks in typical years (and guides for future events like 2026 mention them), 2025 was an exception due to these environmental and safety factors.
The NYRR Midnight Run itself may still proceed in some form, but without the fireworks spectacle. If you’re looking for NYE alternatives in NYC, confirmed events include fireworks in other locations like Prospect Park (though some were also affected) or harbor views, plus the iconic Times Square ball drop. Check official NYRR or NYC Parks sites for any last-minute updates!

Makes the waiting in the crowd at 7th and 57th with binoculars even less appealing now.

Yeah not sure which bHC location is best but afraid none is perfect. If anyone has good experience, please share and may convince me to go next year.

None have a view of the ball drop in Times Square and both W57 and the Quin have units with a view of the Central Park fireworks.

But (I think) the main point of @Reddart's comment is that the intersection of 7th and 57th is above the crowded holding pens and provides both a long distance view of the ball drop and a reasonably good view of the fireworks. But not if there are no fireworks this year.

I like the location of W57th (or the Quin across the street), it’s far enough away from the chaos of Times Square, but not that far if you really wanted to go there. I don’t think any HGVC would have a direct view of the ball. I guess the residences and Central at 5th would be closer.
