Anyone at Maui Ocean Club Now? [Merged]

I just spoke to someone at the Maui Ocean Club. We have a reservation for a one bedroom ocean front unit for May.
I was told that I would either be in Molokai or Lanai. I asked about the construction and was told that Molakai would be in very acive construction at that time but Lanai would also have construction and some lanais would not be usable. Having booked Ocean Front, not being able to use the lanai is not too good.
Wondering if anyone there now can add to what is going on.

We were at MOC last week in a 1BR Ocean View in Lanai tower 4th floor. We had no issues at all with construction. There did appear to be one Ocean Front stack in Lanai tower with scaffolding outside. It was the corner stack that faces north toward the pool area.

The only time we heard any construction noise was when we were using the lounge chairs on the lawn in front of Nāpili tower. We could hear work going on in Molokai tower next door.

We are here now, but in the Napli Tower. Took a photo tour for you. Here is what I can see:

Molokai Tower - The rear 2/3 of the South facing rooms all appear to be under construction and vacant. Workers are present and you can see equipment and appliances on the balconies. IMG_2405

Molokai Tower - The ocean front rooms show no signs of construction. IMG_2406

Lanai Tower - The North/Front corner (impacting some of the higher floor Ocean Front rooms) shows some work being done on the exterior balconies themselves. I cannot tell if the rooms are vacant or if the occupants just don't have access to the balconies. IMG_2407 and 8

Lanai Tower - The South/Rear corner shows a lot of work being done on the exterior balconies themselves. I cannot tell if the rooms are vacant or if the occupants just don't have access to the balconies. IMG_2409

Thanks! Given the typical Hawaiian pace, plus ongoing recovery work in Lahaina, it feels ambitious to expect this work to be wrapped up as planned in mid December.

We are not in a remodeled unit in the Lanai tower, but it's still beautiful and doesn't really need updating, not in my opinion.

When we saw the refrigerator in the unit, we were worried our food wouldn't fit into that little thing, but it did fit with room left over. We did bring our electric griddle for breakfast and grilled sandwiches or omelets later. We have an abundance of eggs right now, having purchased our limit at Costco and our limit at Napili Market.

If this was a Soleil-managed property, they would call the remodel good for at least another 15 years. Kind of a huge difference in management companies and exactly why I am going to see about deeding back our Hono Koa units to Soleil. $3,258 for an annual week at Hono Koa, and even though it's 40 feet to the ocean, it's not the quality or the comfort of Marriott and Westin. The oceanfront view at Hono Koa cannot be beat, but there is no AC, making it difficult to stay anytime during summer, especially July-September.

We just have a view of the dumpsters and the park, but there are constant dumping of trucks into the dumpsters. I hope they aren't throwing out these great beds. Someone can use these beds.

usually when resorts upgrade, they donate the former furnishings to habitat for humanity after they offer them to their employees.

Most places won't accept beds (if you're talking mattresses). They always tell students not to bring home beds that may have just been put out at the curb for garbage pick-ups. Too many different types of critters that might be in beds.

And yes, I know those beds would be coming from a professional lodging facility that knows how to spot and deal with such critters. Unlike the average airbnb host who decides to rent out part of his house. But still.

Every time you stay at a timeshare or hotel, you are sleeping on a mattress previously "used" by thousands of people, in varying states of health and cleanliness.
