We are computer illiterate :wall: . Our email page is cluttered with moving ads that take up one third of the page. There used to be an arrow that would remove them -- but Yahoo eliminated it.

It there any way we can make it so our email page has only the email on it and not be the Hollywood advertising board with bells, whistles and moving targets? :crash:

Any help would be soooooo appreciated ;)

Free -- we pay over $100/month for computer, telephone access!!!!

Cathy, do you have to use the Yahoo website? You may be able to set up an email client on your PC through your ISP that will retrieve email from your Yahoo account. You can still get the emails, but leave the advertisements behind.

Obviously none of that $100/mo is going to pay for Yahoo's premium email service.

There are other less-intrusive free email services. Gmail is quite good. Of course you would have to change your email address, but it might be worth it to you.

Do you have the popup blocker enabled in your internet browser? I use the free Yahoo email service and the only ads I see are on the right side of the page. They are relatively unobtrusive and not a big problem. I'm using the "new" Yahoo email, not the classic version.

Dave: I am a victim of habit -- have had Prodigy then ATT then Yahoo and have had the same email address for years. We also have Internet Explorer hooked up but never use it. I happened to like the features of Yahoo mail better. My hubby and I are horribly non-efficient on the computer. Guess it is decision making time :)

Hi Fred: Yes the blocker is enabled. My pesty ads take one third of the page and is from top to bottom. The left side has my files listed and who is online at the time -- so that takes up about 1/4th of the page. What is more aggravating is that the ads have moving parts so when I am reading my emails my eyes catch those movements just like the advertisers want to happen -- grrrrr!

The mailplus account $20/yr does do away with these. Not terribly expensive and a good solid mail system. I use it as a backup to my work email account and some personal stuff.

Strange. I use Yahoo also and the ad on the right side of my screen is only about 1.5" wide or equal to the partition on the left that shows the inbox and who is on line. The box on the left has a grab bar so you can make it wider. Can you make it smaller so you would have more room for the messages?

Thank you UW and Kozman...
UW:Sounds like we may have to upgrade and pay. We just added $5 month to our AT&T account Friday to get double the computer speed. They sure nickel and dime you :(

Kozman: I'll check that feature you mention on the left -- as I said before we don't know all the little tricks, many thanks!

You could use Firefox as a browser and install the plugin Adblock. I use my Yahoo as a home page and I get no popups there or in the mail program.
