My daughter's a clinical pharmacist who's starting a new job in/near Alamo Heights very soon--March 11th. She just flew back to Ohio from a house-hunting trip this past weekend, but her top picks actually sold during this time.
She's planning to rent a studio until she finds & closes on another house, guessing for about 2-3 months. Is there any friendlier, more economical option for her to consider rather than a Mariott Residence Inn--which she's fine with? I'm wondering if there are other places she should be looking & thought perhaps San Antonio Tuggers might offer her their native wisdom & guidance in this area. Thank you from her sometimes overly-solicious Mom ...

I work at a job not too close to home, so I rent a room in a home during the week. This is near San Diego and it's easy to find this kind of arrangement for $500-800 (or more!) a month, which is way less than the Residence Inn. The benefits are lots more room, usually washer and dryer in the garage, sometimes even garage parking.

I found mine on Craigslist, and there were a dozen in the area to choose from. Some people want relatively long term, like 3+ months, but others are OK with shorter. I see quite a few in the San Antonio listings. Look under "rooms & shares" and "sublets & temporary". I actually had better luck when I put my own "room wanted" ad up ... got three messages the first day, and I'm still here 9 months later. She could post one in either of those categories, or "housing wanted."

Take reasonable precautions of course.

Try homeaway.com I just looked and there are several available by the month.

These are good suggestions; I'll pass them on to her, thanks! When Sarah was going to school in Buffalo some 10 years ago, she & her 2 housemates had excellent luck attracting a 4th by posting on Craigslist. The "she" they sought turned out to be a "he," doing a one-semester internship. The girls all agreed he'd been their best housemate; every day he'd shop & cook dinner for them ... usually STEAK, which was quite a few notches above Sarah's stable of rice/beans/stir-fry. I believe they all cried when he left!
