Any Palace Premier members out there?

My parents purchased a Premier membership decades ago on our vacation to Moon Palace; it consisted of a set of weeks (don't remember how many) that could be used in conjunction with an all-inclusive fee, and a pretty good (at the time) referral program. Unfortunately, the AI fee kept growing annually and I remember on several occasions it would have been cheaper to travel to the resorts without the membership. As a result, most weeks remain unused. In reading the most recent posts on Palace Premier, I understand the value at Palace Resorts specifically appears to be non-existent. However, is there still any hope in trying to exchange the weeks via a time-share route? Is that option even there for Premier on II or RCI? They own the regular room (not presidential) and we'd be fine trading for a small unit to go skiing in the NE area, but not sure if the exchange whole process is worth beginning. Palace Resorts has been unresponsive. Appreciate any advice!

The palace resort membership might be a 25year right to use type and expiring soon or expired already.

Do your folks have an RCI account tied to the palace membership? It would be required so that Palace can deposit into RCI so the weeks can be used there in RCI.

The resort may have a fee required to make the deposit of nights or weeks into RCI however being an older type it may not be a cost to get nights or weeks deposited into RCI.

Best if you can 1st get a copy of the resort membership contract and the RCI account info, if any exists, and then start reviewing how it works that way us folks can help provide more precise answers based on the contract wording.

An older membership might have a bit of value but much will depend on the years remaining, annual fee, and wording / perks in the actual membership.

Also if there is an RCI account that’s active already there’s a number of good ways to use it for booking without having to make a deposit of nights or weeks into it.

Happy to help as you gather more details on the membership and if an RCI account already exists and is maintained as current.

Thank you so much for your fast response. I looked at the contract dated 02/21/2001 and you're absolutely right that it has a 25 year term. It didn't even occur to me to search for this originally. However, there's a separate page stating that "Palace Resorts grants an extension to the member, the period of time necessary to fulfill the use of all premier weeks provided", as long as Palace Resorts is informed in writing. I'm wondering if my parents knew that they wouldn't use all the weeks in time, so they negotiated this.
So that may be good news for us.

It also appears appears there may have been an RCI number created at some point, but it was never used and weeks were never deposited, as the goal was to travel to Cancun only. I'd like to understand if there's any value in initiating the exchange, but no one at Palace Resorts has gotten back to me. In regards to the timeshare exchange fees, there is a page in the contract that had to be initialed that states the following: "The preferential rate for the exchange company RCI is $399+ tax per week plus the current exchange fee. Reservations are made with the corresponding Premier Wek in a Suite with a Maximum occupanccy of four adults in the same suite, which totals $597.50 per week." I assume thes rates would have increased over the last two decades, but not finding addititional information on RCI fee increase allowances in the documentaion.

Thanks again for your help!

Hi @NCLCruiser
Welcome to TUG
RCI also offers Extra Vacations and Last Calls. These are cash vacations that do not require the deposit of a week [ as @VanX mentioned]
You may wish to pursue activating the RCI account by paying a annual fee. If you have the RCI number I would contact RCI about this.

I am not sure if your reference to NE means North East or New England - but here is an example of a summer option using RCI - Extra Vacations.

RCI 1243 - Holiday InnClub Vacations Oak & Spruce- [ Mass Pike / Lee exit - Berkshires ]
2 bedroom / 800 sq foot units are available for approx,$ 675 *+ $ 100 housekeeping fee for 7 nights [ so a 2 bedroom for about net $ 110 a night ]
Summer 2025 check in available for Fri. or Sat for every weekend between May 2 and Aug 30 [except June 27 / 28 - July 4 /5 and Aug 15 ]

*[ Note: I see RCI Extra Vacations in $ CAD, so I converted $899.99 into approx $ 675 USD ]

Good luck following up.

The OP was referring to using the TS in the NE for skiing. We have and will be using the Oak and Spruce resort in the summer. It is perfect for visiting musical events at Tanglewood.

To be able to use the membership or exchange with RCI your parents would have to put your names down as an owner or beneficiary of the resort membership and with RCI a guest certificate would be required unless the RCI membership has been transferred into your name as well.

That’s really the first and most important thing to address before considering extending the resort membership, likely at a cost.

The resort is likely not communicating with you if you haven’t been seen by them as an owner or beneficiary having some kind of role with the membership and resort.

Resorts typically reply well and timely to instructions but most often struggle when asked to answer questions about memberships.
