Tryng to find a place to stay near Rock Hill, SC, on our way to HHI. (Chose this area b/c I have a friend who lives nearby in Fort Mill. Anyway....found a few hotels in the area...but will be traveling with at least 5, probably 6, people (2 adults and 4 kids). Most of the hotels in this area have a limit of 4 per room. So, I either end up reserving 2 rooms....or found a "Residence Inn" closer to Charlotte, NC that can sleep up to 6.
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with hotels in this area? The ones I found near Rock Hill include a: Country Inn & Suites, Courtyard by Marriott, Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn. All of these would require 2 rooms.

Deb,
I live in Fort Mill and would be glad to help you find accommodations. What do you like and when are you traveling? Give me something to go on before I go too far. There are roughly 30 hotels listed in the yellow pages of the Fort Mill/Rock Hill phone book. Some are OK; others are probably smaller, dumpy facilities. Let me know. Send me a private message if you would rather do it that way.

Thanks, Ed! I appreciate all the help I can get! I did check my "point total" in the RCI "elite" credit card...and I do have enough for a one night stay at either Howard Johnson, Motel 8, Days Inn or Wingate. I've been on "tripadvisor", also...and the Wingate in Rock Hill has some favorable reviews.
We are just planning on spending the night at the hotel...so really just need a nice place with clean rooms. Of course, with kids, a swimming pool is always a big plus! :) And, if the place serves some kind of "free breakfast"...even better yet. We will be traveling in early July....spending the night of July 1st in the Rock Hill area. Chances are....we will need 2 rooms, since there will be 5 or 6 of us (2 adults, 2 16 year olds, and 2 other children ages 9 & 10).
We will be coming in on I-77....so if the hotel is convenient to that highway, so much the better. Like I said, we are just "passing through" on our way to Hilton Head...but would like to visit w/ my friend in Fort Mill the evening of July 1st (she's the one who recommended Rock Hill for accomodations; rather than Fort Mill.....maybe prices are cheaper since it is further away from "Carowinds" amusement park.)

If you don't want to book 2 rooms, I would recommend the Residence Inn, Tyvola exit, off the I-77, just north of the S.C. border, not far from Rock Hill. It is a very nice property, with 2 bedroom suites, reasonable rates, and free breakfast.
