Are there any timeshares that are worth purchasing directly from the developer instead of resale? We want to be able to abpoint based system to travel around the world yearly but all of them seem to say that we should purchase resale and then do multiple steps to get the same benedifits or slightly less than the same. Does anyone have a program they love that allows you to transfer to DVC as well as stay in resorts globally?

Thanks!

We want to be able to use a point based system to travel around the world yearly but all of them that are referenced on TUG say we should purchase resale and then do multiple steps to get the same benefits or slightly less than the same as developer. Does anyone have a program they love that allows you to transfer to DVC as well as stay in resorts globally but go directly through a developer?

Thanks!

No such thing. And there simply are not many international timeshares that are of U.S., Mexico, Caribbean TS quality.

The Beach Club at St. Augustine Beach, FL (1 floating week, purchased in 1982)

77,000 RCI points (Sunrise Ridge Resort, TN)
We can stay in the same resorts on the same week, in the same or larger size unit with our free timeshare (VV) that anybody who paid thousands or tens of thousands for theirs. The previous owners of our points one paid to convert their deeded week to points. We also got a bonus week with it. When we were at an "owners update" (aka sales presentation) the sales guy told us we would never be able to stay in a Gold Crown, such as where we were doing the presentation, with our free points. I replied well we are staying here, in a 2 bedroom, on the top floor, for 2 weeks!

For us there are no extra benefits that we would get from buying from a developer that would be worth spending many thousands of dollars extra for. We would rather spend that on taking more vacations.

I can't think of anything the developer is going to give you that you're not going to get for many thousands less from one of the well regarded resale systems. I don't know about DVC personally, but from what I've read, it's best to own DVC if you want to go to DVC. Sometimes you can exchange via II from an independent or MVC resort, but only in limited locations and times from what I gather.

Oh, wait, there is one sort of timeshare called Hapimag that might be worth purchasing from them, just for ease cause the cost isn't massively higher than on the resale market, but it's Europe only and doesn't exactly work like a timeshare exactly...
