Any experience with last minute name changes with the new Marriott Vacation Club forms?

Now that Marriott has forms that have to be filled out if you want to give your unit to a friend or family member, or rent the unit - has anyone had experience with trying to do this last minute? The form claims it has to be done 30 days out but that is not always possible. Would the property turn someone away for not having this form submitted at the 30 day plus mark? We are in a bind and trying to decide what to do with a unit that can't be used due to a family member getting ill. There is insurance so that is one option, possibly a last minute Interval dump which would have lots of restrictions, but we also have someone that is interested in using it now - just not sure of the hassle this will entail and whether Marriott will even get the form approved in time. Maintenance fees are no joke these days, so we don't want the unit to go unused if we don't go with submitting an insurance claim or can't dump to Interval.

I can't comment for something within 7 days or less, but I've had a name change done inside the 15-30 day window and there were no issues. The name change process via the form generally takes 36-72 hours (excluding weekends). So as long as your "last minute" is outside that time frame, you should probably be ok.

It's also possible to change the name via marriott.com, which is instantaneous, although that method is strongly discouraged by owner services.
