We are spending a week at the Westin in Marina Vallarta and thought about adding on four days at an All Inclusive in perhaps Nuevo Vallarta. My question is that when I look at the mandatory fees is there much advantage to trading thru RCI points for say one of the Velas properties (points amount isn't high) but also have to pay RCI for exchanging, versus just booking on Expedia or Orbitz. We did exchance to Dreams in Cabo years ago and were offered a very reasonable AI rate as exchangers. The rates I am seeing now seem to offer little saving to exchangers. I do have loads of points...

Would you consider a small, boutique hotel without the All-Inclusive? We use one week at a timeshare with an exchange and three weeks at properties that we book through websites - or by exploring on foot the year before. I always have a list of places we've been or want to go. Now the timeshare week is our least favorite when we go to Mexico.
