Did you notice that many of the questions are related to the benefits of point systems?

I am wondering if RCI is approaching Orange Lake Country Club with a sweetheart deal to convert to RCI Points.

Personally, I don't want for OLCC to convert. The results should be interesting since this is the mother of all fixed weeks resorts.

In addition they are askiing about internal trading without using RCI.

I've heard rumblings like that for years, with sales people acting like OL doesn't need RCI, that it is the other way around.

But, as long as they are doing the work to assign units, rather than giving exchangers the units deposited with RCI, they might as well do a little more work and do owners' internal exchanges, for a fee of course.

Plus, since they are asking questions about exchanging to other locations, is there a whole new exchange concept/program/company/alliance being considered?

Yeah, those are great questions.

If Orange Lake Country Club were going to offer travel club benefits through the Wilson Travel Group, I would much prefer for them to do it independently of RCI.

The problem is that OLCC does have problems with its internal reservation system. They would need to bolster that system and its controls prior to offering internal exchanges.

They could do something like Ron Jon Cape Caribe and create their own travel club. Or, they could affiliate with other Point systems or Resort Groups to share inventory. I am sure most would take them up on a deal.

I agree, I don't want them to convert. I'm sure that if they did, they would do it for a signficant fee. I have RCI Points and I do not want OLCC to convert to points. In RCI Points, the main component is RCI - the purpose of the resorts is for the assignment of points. Some resorts give higher points, some resorts have lower maintenance cost, but your main relationship is with RCI and not the resort. And RCI charges for everything including using your points (there is an exception where you can make a reservation to your home week 13 months in advance without a charge - oh, this is also the only time that you are assured of getting your unit).

I was told by an RCI rep that OLCC has the most internal exchanges of any resort in the RCI system. If OLCC could do the exchanges internally, and at no fees or very low fees, this would be an advantage to OLCC owners.

The $$$ windfall would be quite staggering for our home resort to do it's own internal exchange program. It would go a very long way in keeping maintenance fees low. I'm sure RCI would desperately hate to lose all those OL owner exchange fees!

As far as the rest of the owner survey and it's contents, I'm happy to discuss that privately with other TUG-OL owners, but not on a public bulletin board.
