Its been a number of years since we have been to Disney but when we were there we talked about how wonderful it would be to bring grandkids back and stay at a resort where you can see the animals from the park. I have forgotten which resort or resorts these may be. Also, we have exchanged for years into II resorts. They do not have Disney on thier inventory. Can someone explain to me what resorts it is that I am talking about and the best way to exchange in? I am assuming maybe through RCI.

Disney is II
No disney in RCI

Do you know if the disney resorts would show up under the "florida orlando" title within II? I usually only see resorts such as Westgate, Marriott, Legacy etc...

The Interval code is DAA. But you won't find availability for that resort just sitting online when you happen to look, you'll need to create a search, preferably for a wide range of dates. They generally only deposit 1 bedroom units, and you may also want to check daily as soon as you get up in the morning. That's a very competitive trade.

The hotel is Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, and the timeshare part is Animal Kingdom Villas. Some of the DVC villas are in the hotel building, Jambo House, while most of them are in a separate building, Kidani Village. Both buildings have Savanna view villas, where you can watch the animals from your balcony, as well as villas without a view of the savanna, but there are multiple public observation opportunities in both buildings. As above, put in a search in II, and good luck!

BTW since you’re a TUG member, you can look at the Sightings forum. Sometimes an AKV exchange pops up and is reported there. But an ongoing search will be more productive!

I drive WDW buses, and I frequently take guests to/from both Animal Kingdom lodges. Essentially, those are some of the most popular resorts at WDW for good reason (the animals). I'm guessing most timeshare owners with II have AK Lodges in their ongoing searches. So, be flexible! If another DVC resort comes up in a perfect time for you, go ahead and take it, then you can visit AKL on one of your days.

Where is your home resort located? There is a regional block in Orlando, so if you own there, you won't be able to exchange into Disney.

I agree with the sentiment, but AKV is also a pretty special place so I can understand wanting it specifically.

One of my most special memories was when we went into our 1br Savannah view unit we traded for and my son (approx age 4-5) ran in and looked out the window. He yelled in his most excited voice - "we have pet zebras!"

Then every morning he'd get up and run to the window to see which "pets" we got that night, as they rotate animals through the various paddocks each day.
