Is anyone familiar with this company based in Whittier N.C. - are they legit.
Thanks, dreffmac

What terms are they offering you?

ANY company that charges a large upfront fee to rent or sell your timeshare is 99% likely to be a scammer. Especially if they are promising you that they already have a buyer or renter.

Did they call you ??? - Unsolicited - Not Respondiong to an Ad

SCAM

They contacted me, unsolicited by phone. $they have a fee of $250 that is payable on PayPal. When i asked how they make their money they said that most of their buyers finance their purchases and they get a % of the financing fee.
Thanks

What services are the offering for $250?

After my last TUG BBS posting I sent them an email asking for certain things in writing. They responded by leaving me a very nasty and rude voicemail message. Then they called and left another message at 12:30 am that was incoherent, wandering and apologetic. The next day they sent an incoherent email, again somewhat apologetic but not very literate. The advice about not paying any fees upfront is right on. Stay away from American Resort Co.

Disagree

To all that are interested I have dealt with this company for several years and find them to be more reliable than most. You cannot say never pay an upfront fee you can only say never pay a realtor or broker an upfront fee, they can get a commision and if you really want to sell your property that is the way to go.Advertising companies will charge an upfront fee but most want an outrageous amount.American Resorts was the best $250 I have ever spent, they have helped me sell 2 of my properties and rent out another and have also got me a great deal on buying property.if you do not know about this company maybe you shouldn't down them. You never hear about what good a company does, always only the bad we ourselves make our choices wether they be bad or good.I am very happy with this company and I would suggest anyone out there that wants to sell, rent or buy to give them a call it would be a wise $250 investment. Not everyone in this world can be happy but I know I am and will continue to use this company.

Since most timeshares have no financable value 0% of $0.00 = $ 250 scam

Now here is a great example of SHILL at work. First post, no history to judge them by, praising a company that fits perfectly the all too well known pattern of scam artists we see everyday from disgruntled timeshare owners that are taken in by these thieves.

Despite what this shill post wants you to think DO NOT FALL FOR ANY UPFRONT FEE COMPANY!! The fee may be disguised as an appraisal, or closing, or title search, and recently a favorite because it sounds SO real - escrow - they are all scams to get you to pay for what you think is a sale that will never, ever happen. You will be out the money but still own your timeshare. These are crooks - avoid them and ignore the shill posts trying to make them sound viable.

Blatant SHILL

By scamming @$ 250/mark flies more under the radar than 900 listing fees or $ 3500 per "Power of Attorney" . . . . . . . . . . . .

I'm a newbie and I also thought this was a SHILL when I saw the posting from the person endorsing the company! This group is amazingly helpful, thank you all so much - I've learned a lot by lurking (reading)! :)
