American Airlines service Phoenix to Carlsbad

Last month American Airlines started service between their Phoenix hub (PHX) and Palomar Airport in Carlsbad (CLD).

This is an option worth looking into if you will be in North County San Diego. It's particularly helpful if you have to make a transfer to get to SAN and American is an option for you. In that case, you can make the transfer in Phoenix and avoid the hassles of the grossly overcrowded San Diego airport. (SAN is great if you are going to be in San Diego city because the airport is so close to downtown. Otherwise, it's the pits.)

Just flew it last week. So happy it is back. I used to fly out of CLD back in the 90s on American and then United. Later America West started flying and I switched from United.

United pulled the plus leaving just US Air at that point. Some goofs have already filed a lawsuit over it.

I lived in North County 1978-1989 and worked across the street from the airport for a while. In the 80s I think, we could fly to LAX, but I don't remember what airline. It was pricey unless it was part of a longer trip.

I live about 5 minutes away from the airport since 1996. I hope this continues. Use to take the American or United Flights to LAX and then fly anywhere in the country, even went to Hong Kong once. I wish the timing was better as the morning flight out is very early and the later flight gives some long connections in Phoenx. So far I have seen very light loads so hope it picks up and sticks around.
