Hello, Is it possible to convert part of the HGVC points to HILTON HONORS points ? For ex , I need to convert some of my 2009 HGVC points to HH but got two responses when called..One rep said yes and one said you need to convert all or none

NB My current points I want to convert are with the BAY CLUB, BIG ISLAND

Thanks

ks

The only way you can convert you current year HGVC points to HH points is to make a Hilton hotel reservation using HGVC points and then cancelling the reservations(when a reservation is cancelled you do not get your HGVC points back, instead you get HH points), unless you are an ELITE member who can convert the current year points.

As far as the number of points to convert, atleast through their website you have an option of choosing the number of points you want to convert, but you can convert 2010 ppoints now not 2009.

When you convert next year's points to HHonors, the rate is 25 (HH) : 1.
When you use current year points to reserve a hotel, the effective rate is 20:1.
Thus, it pays to plan ahead.

I am looking to buy resale, the guy told me that I could earn HHonors points by converting the HGVC points every year. But I would not be able to convert a portion of them.

The only way he told me was to make a hotel reservation using points and then cancel the reservation to get them back. I am not aware that the rate would then be only 20:1.

Talent312 seems to agree. Correct me if I am wrong.

You can transfer points all or part even if you buy resale, i bought resale and have done this, there is a conversion fee of 69.00 and they must be banked for the next year by the end of the current year and the points arrive sometime in the first 2 weeks in january. This gets you 25 Hhonors points for 1 club point.

Current year reservations can be made with club points but the fee is $69.00 and the conversion rate is 20 to 1.

Hmm.. then what is the point of buying direct. With Marriott, you could atleast convert your week to points where as through resale you would not be having that option.

In this regard HGVC seems to be more flexible.

Currently the only thing you do not get when buying a true HGVC resort resale is the chance to become a HGVC "elite" owner. But you'll have to buy at least 14,000 pts worth of HGVC TS weeks to get to the lowest level of elite. That will cost you an extra $20,000 - $30,000!!
