We are going to Villa del Palmar in Loreto in Apri, 2015, and we are wondering about the All Inclusive option.

We want a very relaxing week without a lot of cooking or shopping. We understand that the resort is quite a distance from town, so we will be eating most of our meals at the resort.

What is included in the AI plan and what things are excluded?

Several years ago we stayed at a mandatory AI in Cancun and it covered everything on the menu with no restrictions; but I've heard that plans at some other resorts exclude certain food or drinks.

How expensive is the food if we just pay as we go at the resort restaurants?

AI at this resort includes meals at Casa Mia and the Market restaurants as well as the pool and beach service.

AI doesn't include meals at the Dazante Restaurant or any lobster, good steaks, best wine, top shelf liquors and the honor bar package in your suite.

We didn't use the AI option but did dine at Dazante a couple of times. The food here is what is called " Infused with Mexico" which I think means tastes funny. :D The steak is not so good but the chicken and fish are pretty tasty. It is probably because there is no Costco in the area. Dinner for 2 at Dazante with a few beverages is about $100 usd.

The best meal we had at this resort were hamburgers and a beer at the pool restaurant Casa Mia.

There are 2 grocery stores in Loreto. Go to Ley Supermarket if you don't do the AI.

My wife and I like to do day trips, and we found some amazing restaurants in town, as well as the surrounding areas, so we only did the ALL INCLUSIVE for three days. the rest of the days we ate a light breakfast at the resort, and lunch and dinner out on our trips.

Regarding the A/I, We were very happy with the choices that were available. As the poster above stated, some "high-shelf" items are not included, but I found myself being very happy with what was available ( which includes room service meals, and if you go fishing or clamming- you'll understand what that means once you get there- the restaurants can cook your catches for a very very low fee)
