Enjoyed your ship tour as well. Sad to hear about the food quality and lack of attention in the dining room.
We've been on the Oasis and Voyager class ships as well. We haven't tried the Quantum class. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinions.
Our first cruise was way back in 2002 on Legend of the Seas. Back then we were amazed by the service and quality of the food. We still remember our cabin stewards name, Charlie, from that sailing. He made that strong of an impression on us. This coming from someone who can’t recall names for love or money.
Our last cruise before this was on Oasis. While not as strong of an impression, the service and food quality was still very good. We had booked a sailing on Allure the next year but had to cancel because of illness.
I don’t know if this is a one off situation or if Royal Caribbean has grown so large with so many huge ships, they can’t staff them with the same quality of employee. Since all cruise lines have expanded into larger capacity ships, perhaps the talent pool for employees has been stretched to thin.
We booked another cruise for next year with Royal. This time on the smaller Brilliance of the Seas sailing from Boston on a 7 night Canada cruise. It’s the one itinerary we haven’t done that we’ve always wanted to sail. If the experience is just as bad, we’ll likely start trying other cruise lines until we find what fits us best.
It could be we’ve grown older and Royal is more a younger persons cruise line. If Brilliance isn’t up to our expectations for food quality and service, we’ll likely look at Celebrity first and maybe Princess if Celebrity fails to meet our expectations. It could be that cruising just doesn’t fit our travel needs anymore. That would be a shame since we’ve enjoyed so much in the past.
