We are off to two weeks in Cancun next August. I checked the airfare, SFO to CUN and it is around $742  for a non-stop United flight. That seems a little high, does anyone know if fare will come down as the date gets closer? I really want non-stop as I have two little boys and a hubby who hates to fly. Thanks..

We flew SFO-Cancun via United this past April. I used Visa points which had a maximum of $600 and the fare finally dropped below that around Nov-Dec so I booked. I never went back to check later, so I'm not sure if the fare got lower or not.

I would think August would be a lower fare season to Cancun, but you never know.

Good luck.

We are going in February. I needed a flight into Puerto Vallarta, a flight to Cancun, and then a trip back to SFO from there. What a hassle and boy was there a million different choices & price ranges!! I even considered driving to LAX or even PHX.

I finally opted for AA going through Dallas/FW and Mexicana for the in between flight. Total with taxes $711. I have no idea whether I could do any better but the boarding times and arrival times worked for me and the price for direct was just too high. I don't know whether bargains will show up for winter flights since I've never gone to Mexico before. Now that I've got my tickets, I'm not going to look 'cause I'll just get bummed if the prices go down.:(

SFO to CUN

Back in early June the nonstop United SFO to Cancun was $400 for three weeks for end of January 2007, then increased to the current $700 level, so six to seven months out there may be a price reduction for a short period of time. Just have to keep checking everyday. Good luck

I know this isn't from the West Coast but this week I got a fare from Newark-Cun for $363 for March. Fares had been close to $500. I'm sure there will be fare sales at some point for August. Sign up on some of the travel sites for fare alerts for your city pairs.

The fare keeps on going up. I am glad that I booked my trip to Cancun for March 17 in April for $600.
