2 bedroom unit TS at Redington Ambassador
Spikester,
I am an owner of 3 units at RED. I have been an owner for 10 years. It is a very nice small resort with 35 units. Be sure to read the TUG reviews for this resort too. I'll try to mention other information. This is my favorite resort, especially to sit and watch the water's horizon on the balcony in early morning and at sunset. Guests who sit around the pool area always seem very friendly. The 2 bedroom units with numbers ending in 01-04 are in the older part of the building. 01 units are closest to the street and farthest back from the beach. Units numbered 04 are beachfront. The 01-03 unit balconies are somewhat zig-zag staggered to give a view of the beach and sunsets, the photos at
http://www.redingtonambassador.com/pictures.html all seem to be from the 2 bedroom units.
There is a common laundry room for guests in the south wing, whereas the newer 3 bedroom units have washer and dryer in the unit. The property adjacent to the resort property to the north was sold recently to developers who will be building a condo. They tore down a smaller 2 story motel that was in that space before. After the condominium units are built (I think it is to be 5-story), there is some concern that the view of sunsets and beach may be obscured for units 01 and 02. When I was there last summer, they had not begun construction on that property yet, however.
I think staff at RED are very nice, efficient, and friendly. Parking is adequate with 1 car per unit. Overflow have to find a spot on the street.
There is so much to do and many attractions in the St. Pete & Tampa Bay area. The beach in front of the resort is very nice, but not as deep (width of sand from resort property to water's edge) as the beach further south in Madeira or Treasure Island. I like that because I don't need to walk as great a distance with my beach gear to get to the water's edge if I am playing with my grandchildren.
Because a bird sanctuary is about a mile north near the fishing pier, there are many pelicans, herons and shore birds to watch. I think the sounds of the birds adds to the tropical atmosphere, and I love to watch the birds fly past our balony on their way up the beach. This past summer I stayed at a lovely beachfront timeshare on Longboat Key, where the property line was a farther distance to the water's edge. I didn't hear the gulls as much there and noticed I missed being able to watch the pelicans and blue herons fly by or even to watch the fishing and swimming activity because we were that much farther away, and some of the natural foliage on the beach blocked our view.
I think the Redington Ambassador is the nicest timeshare resort on the Pinellas County beaches. I hope you find it enjoyable, too. Cheryl H
