Advice needed - Membership Westin Lagunamar Cancun

Similar to this post: https://tugbbs.com/forums/threads/westin-vistana-membership.368361/, my boyfriend and I were in Lagunamar last week and were offered the following deal. We signed, but I’m afraid we may have made a mistake and could really use some advice. The joys of being 33!

Here’s the deal we signed up for:

1. 15k membership for 37k StarOptions, with access to all resorts in the Vistana network.
2. 74k additional StarOptions credited in January, expiring after 2 years.
3. $1,000 HOA fees.
4. Four 350k certificates.
5. Gold Marriott Lifetime Membership.
6. 100k Marriott Bonvoy points.

We attended a presentation two years ago and were offered the same deal. This time, we were convinced it was better, but now I’m not so sure. I’ve done some research but still feel very confused and hesitant about keeping this.

Rescind and research while you still can. That’s an expensive buy for not much. 37k Staroptions won’t get you much. The Aventuras properties are amazing but you can buy these on the resale market for practically nothing. If you want Staroptions, consider buying a 148,100 Westin Kierland contract and trade in to Mexico and others within the system for about the same 15k.
