My son is getting married in July. I had to transfer some points to RCI earlier in the year, and have offered them to him for the honeymoon. I've been looking around on the RCI site and don't see a lot available so soon. Can anyone tell me a really nice location that might be available in mid to late July that we could check out. We have only stayed at two Wyndham properties so far and know that the quality of the resorts vary greatly. Any suggestions or ideas?

Could not access the RCI site tonight, but Shawnee Mountain - Crestview still has availabilty in mid to late July 2012. Did not check other date ranges or locations. This is the newest of the Wyndham resorts in the Pocono Mountains and it is a great place.

Not a honeymoon place. But a nice resort for Wyndham owners in the tri-state area.

You didn't say what activities they might like. Ski resorts in July should be pretty easy to get.

It's hot, hot in Florida in July/August. We love the panhandle and Panama City Beach resort is gorgeous. The beach is perfect white sugar sand and there are many great restaurants not too far away in the area. The water is clear, clean and blue green color. That's why the area is also called Emerald Beach.

PCB is showing both a studio and a 1 BR for either July 15-21 or July 22-28. Do they like the beach? There's an international airport not too far from the resort, but they would probably want to rent a car if they flew there.

Im far from an expert but for Wyndham properties one of their newest properties is Towers on the Grove at North Myrtle beach. They have oceanfront rooms available and I think most have a balcony and jacuzzi. No night life nearby, they would need to drive to bars, dinner, etc. My SIL went here for her honeymoon and for them it was fine since they just wanted to unwind... Most of July currently available with Wyndham points.

Just to clarify - are you planning on using an RCI exchange, such that you wouldn't just be limited to Wyndham properties? And if so, was your deposit in the new fixed-grid Wyndham-RCI portal or the old deposit system?

Thanks for all of the replies. I had to put the points in the new RCI system. They definitely want a beach. As for Mexico, I know that the resorts are considered safe but I want to point them elsewhere for now. Sadly, I think it's just a matter of time before the resorts there will not be safe. Anyway, thinking more along the lines of Hawaii or the Caribbean. Morritt's in the Cayman Islands looks nice....anyone stayed there?

The new system, unfortunately.

July. ... I've been looking around on the RCI site and don't see a lot available so soon.
Actually, it's probably too LATE rather than too soon. The best properties are taken more like a year in advance, and many go to ongoing searches.

When do Wyndhams bulk bank into RCI? Aren't they at 6 or 7 months? You might be able to catch some, but I think the July bulk deposit might have already been done.

Does anyone know of any other places that bulk deposit closer in?

I think you may have misread my post. I am aware that it is very late in the reservation process, which is why I am asking for advice.

You're right. I read "available so soon" in your post the opposite of the way you meant it.

Bulk deposits may be your best bet to get something good. I'm not sure what bulk deposits are made this close in, though.

Is there anything available in Kauai? There's usually a lot of availability there, but I'm not sure what a Wyndham deposit sees. I see check-ins every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in July 2012 for Hawaii (I'm assuming unit size doesn't matter for honeymooners). Restricting the search to just 4 star rated or higher and 1 Bedroom or larger, there are 27 units on the Big Island and 7 on Kauai, covering pretty much every weekend check in date in July. Trading power required is 19-28 -- not sure how this works for a Wyndham deposit, though.

Choosing July 2012, 4 star or higher, Beach vacations, 1 Bedroom or larger, I see 555 units at 89 resorts worldwide.

It seems like a lot of stuff to choose from.

Michael, I think Hawaii is a good suggestion. The new RCI system for Wyndham is very different from the weeks/TPU system. They should see every unit that is available. The point value is based on the season and the size of the unit, not the quality, location or TPU value of the resort.

Thanks Michael! I do not have much experience browsing the RCI site and so far am finding it very time consuming. I will try to take a look further tonight. I am going through the Wyndham site, but have received emails from RCI that go directly through their link. Is one faster or better?

I don't believe you have a choice. If you have deposited Wyn points under the new system, you have to go through the Wyndham portal.

Good luck finding what you want!

If you have access to a regular RCI account and find that easier to use, it might be easier to research your options on that account and then once you know exactly what you want go to the Wyndham account and exchange for it.

One that I would suggest, and it's not ocean and not Wyndham: Holiday Inn Orange Lake Resort in Kissimmee FL. A few miles from Disney, an hour from either the Atlantic Ocean or Gulf of Mexico, 2 private golf courses, several on-site restaurants, a "lazy river" pool, movie theater, tons to do in 1500 acres. Suggestion: get either the East Village or River Villages. West Village is the original, and somewhat dated.
