Anyone bought HGVC through the "club" and then added resale HGVC points later? How does that work? Any problems? All our current points were purchased through the "club" but we are considering adding more points through a resale purchase.

If you make your resale purchase using the same name(s) as your original purchase, and you advise them of your existing account number, HGVC will simply add the points to your existing account. Use a different name, and you will have problems.

Another thing to consider is multiple maintenance fees, it may be better to own one large point week than several small ones. So dumping a 3400 point gold week and picking up a 7000 platinum is cheaper than buying another 3400 gold in the long run.

Usually they can combine them into a single account. There are a few exceptions for some of the affiliates.

I own Bay Club and Seaworld. I get two accounts, mainly because there are different rules. Seaworld you can borrow future year points as long as you are a member in good standing (ie. paid up to date). However the affiliate bay club requires that you prepay your MFs first, if you want to borrow from a future year points allocation.

So easy enough. I basically use my Seaworld account, When I want my Bay Club points to appear, I arrange to pay them either online on my Bay Club account, (provided the billing has happened and the bill is online) or I have to call and pay last years bill and they will then bill me the difference at the end of the year.

I then MOVE my Bay Club points over into my Seaworld account and then from that point on they behave like any other point.

Now this only happens with some Affiliates. Most properties they would just move it right into your existing account, again provided the names lined up.

Will resale points be used to change your "status" to elite or elite plus or whatever else they have?

NO resale doesn't give elite status that is the only disadvantage of resale.

Did you receive any information about this?

I purchased a resale contract - added on to my W 57th ownership...it was supposed to take a handful of weeks, but ended up taking about a year to do. Apparently, NYC was really particular with paperwork, etc. I don't necessarily blame the 3rd party company that brokered the deal (I did get them off this site), but the one wrinkle outside of how long this took was additional costs I didn't expect to take on. The seller took care of the MF for the year of purchase, with the understanding that that was a selling point and I'd use the points for 2024...well, the process ran into 2025...and I was asked to cover 2025 MFs, despite, not getting access to the points till well into 2025. I just felt that that wasn't on me, but I ended up splitting the fees because it wasn't the fault of the owner. And, the contract was at a deep discount. Once the contract was totally complete, it did take some time for the new contract to show up on my profile, but now: good to go.
