Well, now that I’ve had a couple of responses concerning legal advice, I will explain again, what I need help with.
We have owned 2 deeded weeks at MOW for 15+ years now. We own a second home in North Myrtle Beach now so we rarely go to MOW anymore but they are easy rentals so we keep them. Our adult daughter lives a reasonable distance away and uses our NMB home more than we do in the winter. We want her to be able and use the facilities at MOW while she is in town Whenever she wants. Current MOW policy is she must be accompanied by a deed holder.
Does Marriott require anything other than a new deed that I prepare in order to add her to our account? Thanks for all informed responses.
Just a general FYI. Anyone can prepare a deed in SC. I’ve done it several times for a unit we owned at Sheraton Broadway Plantation with no problems whatsoever. I have just never done one for a Marriott before and I know all the hoops they require us to jump through now when adding a name to a reservation, I can only imagine how much fun it will be adding a name to our acct.
Just FYI - South Carolina is an "attorney close" state, which means that real estate transactions must be overseen by a licensed attorney. So, sure, you can draft the deed, but the transaction itself still is required to be overseen by a lawyer. But, I digress.
As to your MVC deeded week, yes, you need to do more than just record a deed. You are required to complete the MVC internal transfer paperwork, pay the internal transfer fee, and send them a certified copy of the updated deed. Expect the process to take anywhere from 90-120 days on average. If your weeks are enrolled, then you'd want to process both of them, so that you don't end up with two separate ownership accounts and multiple dues. If there are inconsistencies in ownership, then you will have multiple accounts, each one owing Abound owner level dues. Also, if you use the ownership to maintain a specific owner level, then take that into consideration.
