Hi - bought a SDO. Called II to add they wanted to charge me or renew my membership. I hung up. I called Starwood - they said they add it to my II account for me, no cost - it will just take a few days to show up.
I waited a few days called II (because I didn't see it in my account) they II rep said it could take 7-10 days but let me add it for you and that way it will go quicker...He added all the info and then said - that will be $. I told him it didn't work that way. He said then to wait a few more days it should show up - he thinks...

What is the dealio - who ads' and pays for? confused -Dave

Hi Dave,

First of all, do you already have a non-SVN II account, or a SVN II account? Starwood (and you, through SVN fees) pays for the SVN II account. You and you alone pay for the non-SVN II account, since it is not in SVN.

Typically, if you are adding a week to regular ol' II account, they will charge you a fee or else ask you to renew, and that week will be added as part of the renewal. When I opened up a regular ol', non-corporate, non-SVN II account, I joined for three years and supposedly it came with unlimited weeks to add in for that price. Of course, when I went to add another week some months later, they said that it would cost me $$, and I said that this agent had assured me that my add-ons would be included in my three-year membership, so they had to ask a supervisor to waive the fee.

Then, to complicate matters, my request to add the week was rejected because due to a deed error, the names on the deed did not match the names on my new II account exactly, so I had to re-request that the week be added after the deed was corrected, and I had to get another supervisor to waive the fee the second time.

Soooo, the short answer is, you pay for the week to be added to II, one way or the other  .

Also, you can probably extend your non-SVN II membership for two years for $84 and then get them to add the week at the same time. Plus try for the $12 Conde Nast refund at the same time.....

Denise - WHAT..? holy cow...confused am I...
I have an II account through II.
I'm not aware that I have anything else --
I do recall hearing that starwood builds it into my fees the II membership.

So - my question is - do I need to do anything on the II end or since starwood said they would add it to my II account I am good?

Majorly confused - Dave

Gordo -- From another thread, I think you bought your SDO resale. Therefore, it is not in SVN (even tho you had options show up on your MyStarCentral account). Only resorts labeled "mandatory" (see the sticky for definitions) will be in SVN if bought resale. Those weeks require a special, SVN-only II account.

SDO is "voluntary", so you should not have options nor should you be in SVN. Under "Account Balances" on MyStarCentral it should only list your Maintanance Fees and how many SPG Starpoints you have.

If your SDO was bought resale, you can put it into your "normal" II account. Like Denise L said, you need to call them to add it. And they will, and there will probably be a fee.

If you're still confused, ask again.

i think I got it! ...it is funny when II tells you one thing an then Starwood tell u something else....

So what did you do? I assume you added your new resale week to your existing regular II account? Did you renew or pay a fee?
