Yes, we got the same email and also noticed the other day that it was extended. They do this with the freebie ACs quite often.

Do you get new AC in addition to extended ones? I was told ACs are issued every year in renewal.

It depends. Sometimes II will offer an AC as part of a promo to renew II membership. This isn't all that common though. They then seemingly provide new "freebie" ACs at random times. These are the ones that they may extend from time to time.

We always have an AC in our account. Never used one because we cannot travel on short notice.
