I've not seen anything here on TUG, but then again Acapulco may not be a major travel destination vs. Cancun.

A friend of mine wanted to stay at the Vidanta in Acapulco and says she saw somewhere that all the pools are closed, etc. due to hurricanes/storms in the area?

I am not aware of any specific tropical activity in the area. May want to call the property directly.

Nothing showing for Grand Mayan Acapulco, on DEX, but there is availability at the Mayan Palace Golf Resort. I doubt the reason is weather.

There was a devastating hurricane in October last year that did major damage to the MP, GM, and nearly completed GL. I am not sure that everything has been restored. The MP Golf is further from the beach and the buildings are not as tall. The GM and MP at the main resort have rooms that face the ocean and received significant damage. The GM pool runs parallel to the beach and was most likely destroyed. The MP pool is newer and is between the beach and MP Tower.

We went in January 2023 and the resort was amazing as usual. It was where we first bought in 1999 and wanted to go back there last year.
