Abandoning ownership in HGV Max

I own a substantial amount of points in HGV Max with the Cabo Azul resort. I still owe outstanding mortgage and maintenance fees that I cannot pay. The Hilton transition is not an option for exiting and so I am contemplating walking away, simply stopping all payments to Hilton. Does anyone have experience with abandoning their ownership? What are the legal and financial impacts of walking away? Thanks!

Experience with walking away from HGVC

I own a deeded HGVC timeshare in the Ocean Tower in Waikaloa. I still owe a substantial portion of the mortgage. I will not be able to pay that off and so cannot exercise the HGV transition option. Reselling would not relieve me of the mortgage as it seems the potential resale $$ would be...
