5*ELITE - Most Platinums dropped to Gold at SPG!

I checked my status at SPG.com and saw that I was now a Gold. Oh NO!

I called SVO Elite phone and they told me that there was an error in the system and many Platinum For Life were dropped to Gold status.

They fixed it immediately but every 5* Elite should check their SPG status.

...and also check to make sure any bonus miles you got for paying your MFs on your Starwood AMEX have been properly recorded.

(Not sure if Platinums receive more bonus points than gold members.)

I saw my status had dropped to gold and called SVO. By the time I got of the phone and checked my status, it was already showing as platinum. At least the error was easy to correct!

FWIW, the same happened to my Gold status last month. They dropped it to preferred and then changed it back to Gold (without a call from me) after a few weeks. I was traveling and didn't bother to call... and the hotels didn't seem to care, either (they knew I was Gold). Seems Starwoods excellent database is continuing to prove itself to us in 2008...especially with the wonderful online reservation system...yawn...
