In preparing for a trip next month, I reviewed Three's Feel At Home service and was surprised to see it has expanded in the last few months. I had read this was to happen but didn't know the timeline. In any case, it now has a very comprehensive European coverage and is a great option for tourists.

Add-on options include £20 for 12GB data for 30 days along with minutes and text in the UK (or calling to the UK, I believe). I only use data when traveling other than a few minutes in the UK occasionally.

You need an unlocked phone and a Three SIM to use. If you aren't visiting the UK first, I'd suggest eBay or other source to buy a SIM (Three won't ship them outside the UK). You also can't pay for add-ons using a credit card registered to a billing address outside the UK, so plan on spending a little more through a third party site to buy a voucher, which you can then redeem on the Three website. It's easier than it sounds.

It works great used it in the UK and France and also to summon an uber when I got back to the US.

Also most supermarkets and many other places in the UK including the supermarkets local and Metro smaller stores sell vouchers to top up with.

That sounds like a very good deal. Do you know if the SIMs are available for sale at LHR? I usually go directly form T3 to T5 and wait at the Galleries First until my connecting flight is ready to board, so I haven't looked around for a SIM vendor there.

Thanks. I've got a few (just need to find one!) from when I was there a few months ago. I just buy a voucher, add it to my account, then redeem it for an add on the day, or day prior, to when I want to start using it. This next trip I'll be in Portugal and Spain and very glad to see it now covers Portugal.

Yes, you can buy it in a vending machine at the terminal. In fact, the one you can get there is better since it comes with a plan and credit already active, all you need to do is put it in your phone and turn it on. I think I paid £30 for the all you can eat data and 3000 voice minute package, etc. It was very convenient.

I like that! I have an IPhone 5s in excellent condition (almost - it won't charge any longer) and unlocked which I took with me when I did El Camino de Santiago back in March. I intended to buy a SIM in Spain but never did. I didn't use that phone for a month, and of course it had fully discharged by the time I returned to the U.S. Unfortunately it wont turn on at all, no matter how many times I have tried to charge it. I better hurry up and have it repaired.
