I thought I read a post about them a long time ago but did a search and couldn't find anything.

It's that time of year when I want to put hooks everywhere and DH has a heart attack thinking of all the little repairs he'll have to do later on when I don't want to look at all the holes I made!

Every year I think of trying those Command things that are supposed to go on easy and come off easy without taking off paint. But I never do try them.

Has anyone used them lately? Are they any good? Do they really come off easy without removing paint or other finishes? Can they hold some weight??

Thanks. I'd like to start decorating for the holiday very soon.

In watching the TV ads this holiday season, they did add a printed statement to WAIT 30 minutes or more before hanging things with weight. As I had brought some of those hooks in the past, I was amazed as to WHAT the weight limits were - really much lower than I thought. That is why the notation on the TV ad attracted my attention.

These are on the most have list every year when my daughters go back to school. They come off the walls very well without leaving marks or taking off the paint. Out of all the ones they have used only one didn't come off well--the paint behind it peeled.

a friend used a lot (hundreds, maybe 1000) of 3M style as well as things like hercules hooks, and it was very rare that any failed

unfortunately i cant give you any detailed info on accuracy of stated weights

Thanks much everyone! I feel comfortable plunking down the $$ now and picking up a bunch the next time I go to Wal-Mart. I have garlands I'd like to swag over sliding doors that don't have curtains (nothing to hang stuff from about the doors) and these Command things would be perfect.

Oh, does anyone know if they are re-usable? I'd guess not and I can check online but just curious... sometimes we find ways to re-use stuff that isn't "supposed" to be :whoopie: .

I just found refill packs of strips at Target.

Would they work outside on stucco? I doubt it but thought I'd ask - I'm not sure what to use on stucco.

The 3M Command Strips are great!

Not sure about stucco, but they do work great in the house. I use the picture hanger ones and put 2 or 3 on a 16x20 wood frame - with the velcro style ones, if your picture is not straight, you can pull it off and reset it. They have been up for 3 years now. I use the hooks for my Christmas card holder and to hold stockings (we do not put things in these - they are just for decoration) - I am sure that they would hold garland with hooks every 3 feet or so. I painted some to match my paint with a small craft brush and then just put the refill sticky things on the back each year. These then blend in when I hang things with cords.

We rented a house when we first moved to AZ and everything that I put on the wall I used these 3M Command strips. They came off great!!! I used the larger ones on the back of the bathroom door to hold my robe. It was the silver one and I just left it for the next tenant.

They make them stronger and stronger all the time.

Excellent! Thanks for sharing first hand experience!

I put 4 pictures on my plaster bedroom walls with them - 4 each, velco, one on each cornor, on the wall next to my bed. Lasted about 3 months, when the first one fell off the wall in middle of night. Then a week later, another picture to the floor. Back of packaging states not to use them to hang pictures over the bed. I know why. These were small pictures (1 ft by 1 ft).

I was not impressed. I did not exceed the weight limits. Have not taken the white part off the wall yet - guess I should.
