Just wanted to share the following World of Hyatt promotion. Apparently, as a renter, you can book at a Hyatt Vacation Club resort (the timeshare resorts as distinguished from other Hyatt hotels) and get 3000 bonus points per each night's stay. Presumably, you would in addition get your standard points according to World of Hyatt rules.
There are many Hyatt hotels that can be booked by selecting "pay with points" and oftentimes the necessary redemption per day is 8000 or 9500 points (or sometimes even less) depending on the season for many outstanding Hyatt hotels (such as the "full kitchen" Hyatt Place in upscale Shadyside, Pittsburgh).
Of course, another way to earn World of Hyatt points is to get your World of Hyatt credit card from Chase. Not only do you get many tens of thousands of points (and therefore many free nights) for signing up and charging a certain amount within the first sixty or ninety days or so, but you also earn points per each charge. It's one point for one dollar for some categories of charges, two for others, but FOUR for Hyatt charges.
But I was disappointed to see only one point per each dollar spent in Hyatt maintenance fees for my Hyatt Windward Pointe. I thought I should have gotten more than 8000 points for my more than 2000 dollar maintenance fee, but instead only got one point per dollar charged.
I talked to supervisor after supervisor. It took a few months but I ultimately saw that all the points that I thought I should get were added to my account. But, apparently, you have to be persistent as "the system" or "the software" will not automatically award you the higher amount.
