I bought 1 bedroom at tahiti village $18k. Bought because it SOUNDS flexible and we don't stay anywhere a week. Our daughter lives in france so we travel somewhere in Europe every year. This year going from Budapest to Prague. We like to make last minute plans, 60ndays is long term planning for us. They said we get airline and cruise deals too. Help me figure out if I should remind or not.

1) Is there a vacation destination you wish to visit most of the time or on a regular basis? if so where? No we like to visit different places, but go to Europe every year to visit daughter. Always different places.

2) Do you want to visit your home resort at least half the time, or do you want to trade more than half the time? Somerpointe says we don't ever have to stay here, which will probably be rare we stay at Tahiti village

3) What are your 5 top trade destinations? I am flexible. Europe, carribean, a few US destinations

4) How many people do you usually travel with - total, including yourself? 2 sometime 4 to 6 if kids join us.

5) Can you travel any time, or are you locked into the school schedule? Anytime

6) Can you make firm plans 12 or more mos. in advance? No!

7) Can you vacation for a full week at a time? Yes. But nkt at same place, maybe 2 to 3 places.

8) What level of accommodations do you prefer on a scale of 1 to 5 stars? 4 to 5, 3 if I have to

9) How much can you afford to spend upfront, without financing? The 18k they charged us. But I did finance to give me a chance to recind without tieing up money

10) How much can you afford to spend every year for a maintenance fee that will come due right after Christmas, and increase each year? 2k But this is under 500

11) Are you a detail oriented planner? Sometimes

12) Do you understand that once you buy a timeshare, it may be very difficult to sell or give away, and you are responsible for all fees, until you do?

This is a bad deal. Rescind. You can pick up a similar unit resale for $1. Did the sales person explain all exchange fees? Did they explain that all the last minute stuff is generally off season, such as a ski resort inn late April.

The chorus will join in, but you should clearly rescind. You will not see $18K value in this.

Further your travel pattern noted above does not lend itself to timeshares. Advance planning and staying a full week is where the value you is. Short stays get buried in extra fees to the point its cheaper to get a nice hotel.

So obviously I am super new here, so how do you buy for a $1 and then does that mean you take over yearly maintenance fee? How does this work? What do you look for for a good deal? Thank you for your help.

Rescind IMMEDIATELY then take all the time you want to ask your questions and do your homework. You only have a few days to legally rescind -- after that your hung with it and may not be able to unload it easily.

Study up and buy a resale week if you want to buy again. You'll save yourself thousands of dollars. You work hard for your money so keep your hands in your pockets and find yourself a deal. Check out eBay and well as TUG resales.

Best of luck.
