Traveler's Insta post about extortionate $28 Sam Adams beer at LaGuardia (PLUS a 10% COVID fee) sparks investigation into airport food and drink operator OTG
Bartender says: "Boy, we don't get many of [name your something] here."
Something Replies: "Not surprising with these prices!"
- OTG, the hospitality group overseeing LaGuardia, Kennedy and Newark airports, is facing an audit to investigate how much it charges customers
- The audit comes after a guest shared a menu from LaGuardia Airport that priced a bottle Sam Adam’s Summer Ale at $27.85
- The price of the beer would also include a 10percent 'Covid-19 Recovery fee'
- OTG have since said that the price was incorrectly listed on the menu and should have read $18.15
- One reason for the uptick in prices is because of a rule Port Authority established last year that allows airports to charge up to 10percent more than ‘street prices'
- The rule was to compensate for the 2018 spike in minimum wage for airport workers to $19
