I've searched and didn't see this discussed anywhere. When I look at my Account Balances on Vistana the StarOptions associated with my Weekly Ownership Interests show 0 (zero). The other three years are showing the correct amounts. I've never seen it like this before. Is it this way on others or should I be concerned and contact Vistana?

Edit Update: This is only showing this way for the Weekly Ownership Interests. It shows the correct amounts for 2024 for Home Options Interests.

Just checked... mine show zero for 2024 as well. I think last time I checked 2024 wasn't even listed, so it could be that they're just adding it now to the system or perhaps they never showed more than two years in future?

I'm trying to remember if they previously only showed the current year plus two. 2024 has been showing with zero for several weeks and it is only showing zero for the Weekly Ownership Interests not the Home Options under the various Flex programs.

I don’t think they previously showed that many years into the future. So I imagine it’s a bug related to that change. But my memory could be wrong.

There's obviously no reason those points should go to zero so it’s got to be a bug of some kind, I think.

At our owner update yesterday they were offering SO as the sales incentive and I think (although by then my mind had wandered) the sales lady said we could defer our purchase, maintenance fees and incentive to the future, definitely 2023 and she may have said 2024. Maybe they added 2024 to the dashboard to show these should anyone take up the offer?

Mone are 0 also. There was an issue a few years ago where the future amount of StarOptions were messed up. I will have to see if I can find that thread.

ok i had to call for something else so I asked - basically, they only load as far out as you can make automatic home reservations for - so that is why 2024 doesn't show yet - when the year flips to 2022 you will see 2024 populate

AUTOMATIC home reservations? What are automatic home reservations? Is there an alternative to those 6 am (Pacific Time) phone calls, one year prior?

Automatic home reservations are for deeds/weeks/resorts with fixed weeks. I own fixed/float weeks and the system automatically books the fixed week 18 months out. If I do nothing, it will cancel the reservation at 10 months. I usually cancel the moment it books the week so that the SOs get released back to me.

9PM (Pacific Time) online reservations one year prior work well (most of the time).

I was just at an owners update last week, which for once, I was glad I went to. I had not been aware of the MVC buyout of Vistana. At any rate, I was told that Star Options will be going away in favor of MVC points. Many of the details have not been worked out/publicized as of yet like the relative value of properties within the new system, nor the timeline of the transition. My guess is that your points don't appear because of this change.

some of mine are fixed week fixed unit so they usually show up earlier than the one year mark and then we have to "Release" - otherwise it is auto confirmed if we do nothing i think

Where was this update? What were they trying to get you to buy?

That’s just a rumor at this point, and I don’t think the sales people know any details about it. There are a lot of hurdles to the idea of merging the two systems and I’m not convinced a full merger of those systems will happen in the way that the timeshare sales folks are claiming. They are just using the rumor to try to sell you more Flex points or whatever.

I‘ll believe it when I see it announced, and I’m definitely not buying anything based on unsubstantiated rumors.

if I had a nickel for every lie I’d ever been told by a timeshare sales person, I’d have enough to buy another week in Maui.

I was at one last week in Maui and there was no mention whatsoever of this. Having experienced the difference between the 'sincerity' of owner updates in Maui and Florida I'd guess the one mentioned was more likely at the latter.

At my owner update in Maui last month, they talked generally about the likelihood that some kind of merger was probably coming — thought it had originally been planned for sometime in 2020, but because of Covid was pushed out, probably to 2022 — but the salesperson didn't know any details and was honest about the fact that it was all speculation at this point. They were trying to use the likelihood of some sort of merger to encourage me to get to 5* elite before the merger was announced, because the requirements to get to the highest level might increase at that point.

My own attempt to analyze and compare the MVC and Vistana elite programs led me to the conclusion that it was more likely that the elite requirements would increase for MVC owners than for Vistana owners. But that's admittedly speculation too!

Salespeople love to use FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt) as a sales tool, and that's definitely what they are doing here.

The salesperson I dealt with last week in Maui was very definite. He didn't even talk about Vistana Elite status, it was all about moving up on the MVC Elite Status https://www.marriottvacationclub.com/common/cms/mvc/pdfs/myvc/orl-benefits.pdf He was pitching buying another EOY unit at WKORV to get me up to the Prresidential Level. The two types of units he pitched was an EOY 1 bedroom OV for $22K, and an EOY 2 bedroom IV for $33K. He also said that the integration was pushed off for two more quarters because of COVID. Although he did not have specific information on the relative values in MVC, he thought that the Westin properties would carry a bit of premium in terms of points. I'm really curious if anyone knows anything more definite.

The problem with that is the salesperson doesn't really know what the conversion would be so he couldn't know how much you needed in Vistana to be Presidential in MVC when/if the common program is announced.

He was basing the value on existing MVC properties in the same location. He felt that the Vistana properties would come in at a higher value, but he used that as a base value.

I wasn't questioning how he valued them I was saying whatever he said he doesn't have a clue as to what is going to happen. He is too far down the food chain in Marriott/Vistana to know.
