Preparing to plan for a 2025 New England trip, and want to include a stay at Custom House in Boston. Will be looking to do a 5-night stay Sun-Thu, anytime from mid-June to mid-August. Would success be more likely through Abound or Interval? We are Select level so we will have to wait until 10-months out to try on Abound (since under 7-night stay). Or is getting a 5-night Sun-Thu just an impossible dream?

Interval would only be for a 7-night stay and only offers weeks Friday-Friday for Custom House.

Not sure how the points inventory availability is (I don't own points) but I assume its limited since Custom House was sold largely as weeks and Summer is the prime season for this property.

I have seen Summer weeks in Interval so if you can make the full week work and put in an OGS request now you are likely to succeed- especially if you are flexibile on the dates and put in a wide range.

I wouldn't say it's impossible, at least not in Abound. But it's extremely unlikely to be fulfilled in Interval, where you'll usually only see full weeks for that type of property.

Also, keep in mind that if using Abound points in Interval you won't be able to book ANY Marriott timeshare. You should be able to do it with your Sheraton or Westin points, but it will again most likely be for a full week.

Right now I don't see anything available in June 2025 for 5 nights and I'm Chairman's Club.

Question. I know if I use Marriott Club points I can't book Marriott timeshare, as I can with my Vistana weeks and flex points. However, if I have a legacy week timeshare at a Marriott can I still use that week to trade to Marriott properties in II as I can with the Vistana week?

Yes most certainly you can. Its only Abound club points that can't be used in II to exchange into any MVC, Sheraton or Westin properties.

Yes. But as with any exchange in II for Custom House, it will almost certainly be for a full week. Shortstay Exchanges are rarer to begin with, and just don't seem to ever be available for certain properties.

I think you will find it difficult to get anything short of a week stay or to even get a reservation using Vacation Club points. There are only 84 rooms. One our best options has been to exchange in through Interval.

Another option is to watch and rent a week. The rentals I have seen posted are few and are bargain priced.

We own at CH and are headed there for the Memorial Day week - my favorite week in Boston. I wanted an extra night and called Marriott for a booking - the rate is $625 per night.

Don't miss Custom House. We go back every year and always find plenty to do.

I have for many years wanted to go to Custom House. Could never get a trade in II that was suitable.

What I ended up doing was purchasing a promo tour package for a 3 night stay. Just a thought.

I was able to score a full week at Custom House for next May in Interval. I just booked it this weekend, so keep looking.
Great News! Although CH is a great location and Timeshare. For us 7 days in an Urban Downtown setting with no pool, Sunny Days, Palm Trees, no kitchen... We would most likely only do 4 nights on an II trade.

That's probably another reason it was not suitable for us.

Thank you for the suggestions. My first attempt in Abound after converting all of our Vistana VOI’s was 10 nights at Los Suenos booked 13 months out, where we just returned from a week ago, so it’s easy to be overly optimistic.

Thank you. Was planning to convert just our Sheraton Flex to Abound which would be just enough points for the 5 nights. Definitely need to think this through more.

Thank you, gives me more to think about. We are also wanting to go up along the Maine cost for a couple nights and also a few nights in the New Hampshire mountains. I was thinking to use the Westin Flex in II for Maine and NH, and the Sheraton Flex in Abound for Custom House. Maybe all in on II instead. Checking on rentals is a good suggestion though!

Thank you. Was hoping Los Suenos would offer us an Encore, but they didn’t (that update experience will be shared in a future post). I’ll try calling the corporate promo department and see if it’s possible we could get one that way.

And gee, I distinctly remember that sales rep telling us about all of the thousands of vacation resorts we can easily get into when we buy more points!

Thank you. I like this post; it plays right into my optimism (see post #13)!

I was at an update meeting in Los Suenos last year and they told me they don't offer Encore packages there, I think (if I remember correctly) because there are so few units.

You don't have to be at a resort to get an Encore package, you can just call corporate sales and see what is available.
I don't know the number but it might be in your account somewhere or on the website.

FYI - While we own at Custom House, I have exchanged multiple times using Grand Chateau (1 bdrm) as the deposit in Interval. Our stay next week will be another one through Interval.

It may help that we favor the Memorial Day week. We experience good weather and open venues.

As of this afternoon we achieved our desired 5-night stay for late June 2025. I started searching at 10 months out (mid-August) and found two nights in late June 2025 that would work. I then called MVC and placed a waitlist request for the remaining three nights that were desired. I also continued to search for other possible nights in different weeks but never saw anything again that might work. Then on Oct 15th one night was confirmed automatically, and then another one on Oct 23rd. Finally today the fifth and final night desired was confirmed via email from the waitlist. So patience and perseverance paid off. The only thing left to do is call Custom House and get those 4 separate reservations hooked up into one, but that is hopefully a minor inconvenience.

Good for you! As a MVC Points Owner I did a similar thing last year, trying to secure a 5-night reservation for April 2025. Eventually I got them in October 2024.
