After reading through some of the reviews and sdvice through this forum I would like to resvind my villa preffered access membership. We did the mistake of signing up for this wothout researching before hand. Our total price was 15k with 1000 base points and 1000 points we can use and purchase for 0.50$ per point.
I know this can be a lie but we were told we got something that not much people get which is unlimited getaway weeks. they told told me we can even rent these out to make some money to cover monthly and yearly fees, is this true? At first we were offere 2 getaway week but after negotiating they 'upgraded' us to unlimited? Is unlimited getaway weeks a good or neutral thing? I am on the fence whetehr we should cancel/rescind our membership and just buying a secondhand membership through here.

If you are still within the five day rescind period then you should do it immediately. Don't even question it for one moment; get out while you can.

Remember, you own nothing in Mexico (no deed). All you own is the right to occupy as long as you keep paying.

Cancel while you can, and do your homework in meantime.

Send your cancellation via the Postal Service and be SURE to send it via REGISTERED MAIL and retain your Postmarked Receipt.

Welcome to TUG.

WE just bought a VDP membership similar to yours. Feb 4/25 I see you cancelled yours. We are still in PV for 2 days then back to Orlando. We only really have today and tomorrow to send the recind letter as we'll be in Florida thereafter at Disney. Exactly what did you do to cancel. We are thinking we should go back to the resort with our letter. But who do we address it to? Who do we hand it into if we go back.Ifwe send it in via DHS or another serivce is that sufficient?

Time Traveller we just purchased Feb 4/25 timeshare at Villa Del Pal Mar. We have 5 business days to cancel but are only in PV Mexico till Sat. We want to cancel while here. Not sure who to address the letter toandifwedeliver itin person and video the delivery is that legal? Who do we address the letter to? The postal service in PV is almost no exsitent soe we'd have to use a service DHL or something. Is there anytthing specific beyond "we are formally recinding/cancelling our contrat #.... efective immediately. " that we need ot say? We're going to cancel our $2k credit card purchase and send them a copy of the letter. Id appreciat your erspons ASAP aswe only have 2 days to do this. THANKS

If you are at the Villa del Palmar you can give a cancellation letter to the concierge that signed you up for the tour. Make sure that anyone that signed the contract signs the cancellation letter and date it. You don't have to say anything in the letter other than you are canceling. You could ask for a receipt of your cancellation letter which you may need to hand write and sign. Also email the sales the department and cc your credit card company. Look on your contract and there are usually instructions to cancel. Good Luck

Just address it to the sales department

Important to include
1. Contract number
2. Date and location you signed
3. Name of resort or program you bought. You can include a photo copy of the summary page if available.
4. Sign and date it. This applies to everyone who signed the original contract.

No reason needed. Just say you are exercising your rights to cancel within the stipulated period.

Look in the contract for the cancellation section. You will get a mailing address, a physical address or an email. While you only need one of those if more than one is listed, you can use every option listed. I will also recommend to make a copy of the same cancellation email, sign, and drop it at the concierge or sales at the resort. Just keep in mind they may try to entice you to prevent you from cancelling. Do not engage in a conversation or discussion.

Be sure to use REGISTERED MAIL when mailing the rescission paperwork. Retaining the mailing receipt provides absolute proof that you mailed it within the five day timeframe in case anyone questions if you mailed it in time.

As @easyrider and @WorldT have said you can also drop it off in person. However, they may attempt to either lower the price or talk you out of purchasing it. Ignore them and stand VERY firm. You want to RESCIND and you will not be talked out of it.

Best of luck!
