10 listed from California; 5 from Ohio. But, none from New York or Pennsylvania. ... eom

I'm thinking the one from Oregon must be Nodge!

:D

I'm holding my breath that I don't "win" the big prize of having to pay $10,000+ in taxes for a million starpoints that I can't use.

What happens if a non-American resident wins? Are they hit with the same tax bill somehow?

I assume if you win, you're not obligated to actually take the prize, right?

nodge, ... If you win, please sell me the 1M Starpoints for whatever you have to pay in taxes. I can make good use of them. ;)

80,000 Starpoints can be converted to 100K SW Airlines air miles (meaning 12 round trip tickets anywhere SW Airlines flies each year for the next 15 years).

Or, 1M Starpoints can be converted to 1.8M US Air air miles (since 90K is a round trip business class ticket to Europe, meaning 2 round trip business class tickets to Europe each year for the next 10 years). ... eom

Nope that's not me.

Good thing for all the stray dogs living in the south that Southern Illinois University didn't make it to a BCS bowl this year.

GO DUCKS! -n

Sorry about those Ducks, but they had a great season. I think there were a lot of people in Alabama cooking up a little Duck a l'Orange Monday night.

Living in CA and being in AMT (even with the tax cut extensions) - I do not think you would want to pay my taxes for the 'prize' since it would be more than what they would cost directly from SVO.

IIRC - with nodge living in OR (no state tax - correct?) - it may be worth it even at AMT - but it is the 10.2% CA tax that would put me over the edge - plus I would not pick-up SPs for more than 1.3 cents/SP for my own reasons - if I were 5* using air conversion - more like 1.6 cents/SP...

It costs money to travel - so when you take that killer plane trip to wonderful and exotic places - it cost money to be there. Not saying that is a bad thing - that it is an underlying cost that one must account for - as well as having the time (that already includes planned TS vacations). I can't figure out what to do with the SPs we already have - much less deal with more of them (perhaps if we were retired or rich...)

again - IMO IMO IMO - YMMV

Count me in as turning down the prize - can't afford it.
