Has anyone had experience with Sky Blue Solutions? I received a phone call yesterday to sell our Ritz Carlton fractional ownership in St. Thomas. Is Sky Blue in the realm of scammers?

I don't know anything about Sky Blue. If they are asking for any kind of fee to list your unit for sale then they probably are not legit.

My understanding is that the Ritz-Carlton fractionals are selling for well over $100K. So a "real" real estate company would be interested in selling them (not like a timeshare.)

If I wanted to buy or sell a Ritz-Carlton fractional, I'd do a web search for companies which specialize in them.

No "solutions", only problems...

I have not specifically heard of this particular entity. That said, I've stated here before that over several decades of observation and experience, any and every timeshare related entity I have ever heard of having the word "solutions" in its' name has consistently (and with no exceptions) been an unknown, obscure upfront fee "listing" entity, highly unlikley to ever sell a timeshare --- or accomplish anything more than simply accepting your voluntary donation to their coffers.

Maybe "Sky Blue" is a notable exception, but I'd certainly be willing to bet otherwise...

While researching some property on ST Croix and St Thomas back in the spring, I remember seeing Ritz fractionals listed along with other real property. So I suggest contacting some of the big name RE companies on island.

Sounds like a Pay Up Front operation

Received a call from them, asking if I was interested in selling or renting my XXX property. I said maybe and started looking them up online. The gentleman didn't know where my property was or any of the details of it. So I asked how he could have a potential buyer for something he doesn't know about, and he was very honest. He said "I just have your name, phone number, and the fact you have an XXX property. I call people on this list and ask them these questions they gave me, and anyone that says OK I give their number to one of the bosses. I don't know about it, I'm just doing my job". I told him I wasn't interested and he pleasantly ended the call.

They are located outside of Orlando, and I wonder if they're related to the folks at Premier (search for their name and read up on total scammers).

SCAM

Companies like this put all their effort into attracting sellers and none into actually finding buyers. Why should they find you a buyer? It's more work on their part and they already have your money.

Sent them $600 in Nov '09 and have been getting a "next week' answer every since. Anybody else

Here are some warnings signs with these kinds of companies:

1) Do they say that they already have a renter/buyer for your timeshare? (or an established market like people attending conventions.)
2) Are they offering to rent/sell it for far more than the market value?
3) Do they want you to pay a large up front fee?
4) Are they refusing to send you a contract until you pay their fee?

If you answer yes to any of these questions, then this is the usual scenario:

Once you pay the fee and receive the contract, you discover that the company has only promised to advertise your resort, not to rent/sell it, and they don't mention having a renter/buyer in the contract.

Then, you won't hear anything from them for a long time, and when you contact them, they will tell you that the renter/buyer backed out, but they will advertise your timeshare on their over-priced website.

Finally, when you try to get your money back, they will point out that you signed a contract, and it's only for advertising. When you try to challenge it with your credit card company, they will tell you that you can only challenge it for 60 days, and it's too late.

If you paid with a credit card you should challenge the charge immediately - you only have 60 days after receiving the statement to do so. If you sent them a check, you should see if it's been cashed, and stop payment if it hasn't. If it's been cashed, you are probably out of luck.

It's still happening!

I am sorry that i am replying to this thread so late but we just joined TUG BBS and unfortunately we too paid money to Sky- Blue solutions upfront(!) and have also been getting nothing but calls saying that they are real close to selling our property. This has been going on for about 3 months. In the meantime i have contacted the three offices in FL government that are dealing with these scams, including the Attorney General's office and at least one of these offices has contacted the company with the complaint. As such, I was pleased to see the recent article in the Miami Herald posted in TUG Newsletter indicating that some 60 of these companies are being investigated. I wonder if it is possible to find out who, and if Sky Blue Solutions is one of them? Any insights? Also has anyone gotten their monies returned since according to the article a number of people have?

Flimflamed still

I have not had any futher luck or help in getting the money back or SkyBlue sued or put out of business. Here is my log of the issue:

01/22/10-JOS-FL Attny Gen's Telemarketing Fraud Division does not have any info on SkyBlue. Search at their website - nothing

My response: Thank's Denise. Probably so, but I have spent several hours scanning Google, Tug, etc & called the Florida Attny General's office. None have any negative reports. I can't believe we are the only ones on the planet to challange or question them.

We will be in Orlando on other business Monday & thought I would stop by their office & challange in person. {didn't get there]

01/29/10 Filed FL Attny Gen complaint
We were solicited by phone 09/08/09 to rent two timeshares with a one time initial fee of $799. Promised quick above normal payment rental with no further cost to us.
Cindy Davis 888 373-2220. says SkyBlue will offer our week at Marriott's BeachPlaceTowers in Fort Lauderdale @ $3800 for the week & fwd offers as received - same for Cancun timeshare.
Since then weekly promise that they are negotiating a deal to be completed "next week" with no results. We have concluded they are a scam

Robert Joslin,
Thank you for contacting the Attorney General's Office regarding Timeshare Rental "Agent". Our staff will process it as soon as possible and, if necessary, respond appropriately. Blue Sky Solutions

They solicited me; I really did not have much interest, but since I figured Amer Express would protect me within 30days of recieving the statement, I went ahead.

Once I paid my feew ith my American Express card I NEVER heard back from them again despite numerous phone calls and emails. American Express would not reverse the charge because it had been more than 10 days since I signed the contract.

You do NOT have 60 days to contest the charge because of the way the contract is written.

I find it amazing that the Florida Attorney General "has no negative information about them and I will follow up with them.

Your next best bet is to report this to the Attorney-General in the state in which this company is located.

While we're at it, you'll probably be receiving calls now from companies claiming that, for an upfront fee, they can recover the money you sent to these upfront fee scammers. Don't fall for this either!

Blue Sky Sky Blue

Just an update that I have never been able to get anyone at their offices to call me back. Usually it is an automated response. If by luck someone does answer, anyone of note is "out of the office".

American Express is unable to do anything once the contract is signed. I will contact the BBB, that said they had no records on the company, and the Florida General Attorney reporting them as BlueSky, SkyBlue, and United Resorts Marketing which is how they sent the invoice to American Express.

BlueSky Solutions

Also, they have a place for Google reviews, and of course all the comments, except one, are positive.
