The earlier thread on crock pots reminded me that I wanted to get more crock pot recipes.

I already have a pot roast recipe that the kids enjoy. Anyone have others?

Thanks!

Jen

Spare ribs. Grill or broil ribs for about 5 minutes on each side to brown. Then place in crock pot. Cover with your favorite BBQ sauce, and let cook for 6-8 hours, turning occasionally. About 1/2 hour before eating, use a turkey baster to remove all the liquid in the crock pot, and discard. Pour fresh BBQ sauce over the ribs, and let them reheat. Serve with rice. I usually get fried rice from Chinese take-out. You can ask the butcher to cut the ribs into cocktail size. Then use them for an appetizer when having company.

To Die For Crockpot Roast

Since finding this recipe several years ago, this is the only way my DW fixes roast. It is really good. We also slice up 2 or 3 fresh japaleno peppers and place on top of the roast.

To Die For Crockpot Roast

Serves/Makes: 4 or more
Ingredients
· 1 beef roast, any kind, sized to fit your crock pot
· 1 package Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing mix
· 1 package brown gravy mix
· 1 package Italian salad dressing mix
· Kitchen Bouquet
· Water
Preparation
· Place roast in crockpot; sprinkle kitchen bouquet on roast for browned color.
· Mix all three envelopes of mixes together and sprinkle on top of roast.
· Pour about 1/2 cup (125 ml) of warm water in the bottom of the crockpot.
· Cook on low for 6 to 7 hours.

We have used many different recipes for cooking roasts through the years, but have NEVER had one as delicious as this! Don't let the simplicity fool you; give it a try! You will be glad you did!!
Use any leftovers for hot roast beef open-faced sandwiches during cool weather! Also, the "gravy" is wonderful on mashed potatoes!!

A post by Joan reminded me that I wanted to start a thread for crock pot recipes. Searching (always a good idea before you start a thread) revealed this thread!

We've been using the same recipe as the previous poster (from four years ago!) for crock pot roast, and it's incredible how quick, easy and tasty it is. I usually take an extra package of gravy mix and prepare it using a cup of the drippings rather than a cup of water - incredibly rich and tasty!

I have another simple crock pot recipe to share, but I'll do it in a separate post.

Crock Pot Pulled Pork

This one is almost too simple...

Put a "Boston Butt" or other pork roast in the crock pot, cover it with BBQ sauce, and let it cook all day. In the evening, it'll pull apart with a fork (or a pair of forks) and is awesome either by itself or on a sandwich/bun.

Crockpot Spanish Chicken

Cheesy Crock Pot Chicken

1 can (10 1/2 ounce) condensed cheddar cheese soup
garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste

Directions

1. Pour the soups and spices over the chicken in the crock pot.
2. Cook for 6-8 hours on low.
3. Serve over noodles.

Love it!!! Thank you for these recipes. Am always looking for something new for my crockpot, and these sound great!

I love easy!

Take short ribs and jarred, not canned, sauerkraut. Cook for 6 - 8 hours. The long cooking time really mellows out the sauerkraut and it still has a nice ZIP to it.

I have never figured out what to serve it with. I usually just do mashed potatoes.

This is definitely for a fall or winter day.

We love using crock pots at resorts we drive to.

My sister inlaw made the pulled pork with the BBQ sauce but she added a half a can Coke. It came out fantastic.

Ah, good addition. I've seen that in several recipes.

In fact, one of our favorite brisket recipes uses a mix of coke and chili sauce (and onion soup mix, I think). I bet that could be done in a slow cooker as well. Might have to try that!

I have to dig my crock pot out. Honestly, I log so much time on my computer working - when I'm not on TUG - that dinner becomes a bit hit or miss. If I did it in the morning before I really get into the groove, that would be a good thing.
