1:4 Rule at Attitash in NH :(

I finally hit up against the 1:4 rule in RCI. Usually, when I am trying to exchange into a resort that has this rule and I'm within that 4 year period, the system gives me a "no units available" message. I didn't get that message when booking an exchange into Suites at Attitash for Vet's Day weekend. I knew that I had an exchange into Attitash Mountain Village for Feb 2025, but figured that since Vet's Day is an admittedly mud-season type week, they were letting it slide. Yesterday, I got an email from RCI, asking me to call them. When I did, they told me that the week would need to be canceled, due to the 1:4 rule within the group of Suites at Attitash, Attitash Mountain Village, and River Run. GRR! Ah, well. They refunded my exchange fee and credited me back my 3 TPUs that I'd used. Did a new exchange into Smuggs this morning, and came out $50 ahead because of an exchange fee sale. So all's well that ends well. :)

Moral of the story is that just because RCI lets the exchange go through doesn't mean that you're going to keep it!

If you like Attitash you may wish to add RCI 3404 Taranova at Attitash Mountain Village to any searches.

I own Taranova & believe there are 4 units owned by Taranova and these should not be affected by the 1 in 4 booking restriction .
The check in is Sunday & I believe the units are 2 bedrooms
I don't currently see any RCI availability but I am sure deposits occur.

Thank you for sharing this information. This Is a favorite for our son and family during the summer season. About two years ago, there was a Last Call available and I thought I had read there were different rules for those units so I booked it for them. RCI sent an email saying the reservation had been canceled. Will keep your suggestion in mind.
 
Sounds like you ended up in a good place. Another thing you can do, especially with a discounted mud week is see how much it would cost to book it as a "Last Call" or "extra" in RCI. At least for Massanutten, the 1 in 4 rule does not apply to that.

I was staying at the Galleon this summer and the lady in their activities/resale office swore to me that RCI was who created their 1 in 4 rule and they did it from a standpoint of fairness. The otherwise nice lady was indignant on insistance that it was RCI that decided to impose the restriction. I don't believe her, but I believe she believes that for some reason.
 
The person I talked to at RCI was clear that Extra Vacations and Last Calls are not included in the 1:4 rule at these resorts. So that's a plus!

I needed something that checks in on Sunday, since I'm going Thurs/Fri/Sat nights. (We get Friday off school for Vet's Day, since the holiday is a Saturday.) The Attitash resorts have always been my first choice, and Eastern Slope has been my second. Oh, well....Smuggs is hard to be upset about...except that it's twice as far to drive. I'll enjoy it just the same!

These resorts don't usually participate in Extra Vacations until the 11th hour, if then. They are funny that way! Guess they want to hang their hat on that 1:4 thing as long as possible!
 
Well now, that's a bummer. There resort system is always my next choice after Lincoln area for NH, but I have been there in a while. Wish they would go back to the plentiful options for EV and LC like they use to and at similar prices. When you do catch one in advance, the price is typically high. And you are correct, these haven't been counted in the 1-4, I even saved this snip from a chat a while back on the topic!
