“Owners Update”

I would like to hear from the experienced owners about the invitations to attend the “updates” meetings. I have politely declined all the invitations received from my resort/concierge. I simply don’t want to spend my time on this. Is there some sort of “black list” for those who simply don’t care about it at all? ie: your contract # is put on the back burner by the IT team when you try to book online a specific week? Or anything similar because you are not “cooperative”?

Wishful thinking, I'm afraid, with perhaps a few noteworthy exceptions unknown to me. All you can really can do is firmly decline to attend and clearly state that you have no interest in attending any "owner updates" in the future and that you would appreciate not receiving any future "invitations". Probably futile, but it can't hurt to ask.

There's no blacklist that causes you to have difficulties making reservations in any way that you would normally, as the result of declining these sales meetings, for any ownerships that I've heard of.

Marketing and Salespeople will lie to you that you are missing out in some way and hence you need to go to magically unlock the ability the get fantastic deals that you wouldn't have anyway, but when you get there there's just one more step.... Hand over $$$$ for something you don't need for the magic to work.... and of course that's all they are interested in.

With some ownerships you can ask not to be contacted about sales meetings, with varying success.

Fear not, and enjoy your vacations, as long as you are reading up on changes to terms and conditions or FAQs in your account and watching TUG, you are probably better informed than those who seek to educate you.

Everyone has their price. I understand you not wanting to waste valuable vacation time. Still if they offered you enough you would attend. I got them up to $400 at Cypress Harbour this week. $300 cash card and $100 restaurant gift certificate. Your price maybe way higher than that but there is no harm in asking.

$400 right off the bat. I’m sure it comes from part of all the MF paid annually. 😏

They offered me a $250 cash card right off the bat. After a no I responded back with a $300 cash card. They called their boss and it was approved. I'll ask for more next time, but I don't understand why many of the Tuggers here who will never buy still get invites.

I wish they will offer me $300. I will take it. Heading to Grande Vista in January. Hope they offer something reasonable. Have to pay for that car rental somehow :)

They won't offer it. You have to ask. If they want to get me into a room to pitch nonsense they are going to have to pay.

I'm a longtime (Sunterra days) deeded owner at Point @ Poipu. Never converted to HVC/Diamond points.
They don't invite me anymore, for the last 5 years at least. I always go at Thanksgiving so they have a full complement of prospects.

Worldmark still invites even if it's a short 2 night stay
