Bluegreen scam to avoid rescission period

I purchased with bluegreen on 01/18/26. They said it would take 3-4 weeks for my account to be set up. I tried calling exactly at the three week mark to ask questions and they said my account was not set up and they could not help me. Once I was able to finally get an answer and they finally set up my account after the 4th week I was able to finally get someone to answer my questions about my time share that they said I could learn more about during a orientation presentation in the 3rd month. When I persisted to ask them about the reservations process and planning window I found out very quickly I was confined to a very narrow 45 day window or and that it would need to spend money out of pocket every time I wanted to make a reservation. That is not what I signed up for nor would I ever have agreed to spend $20,000 on. Now how could I have possibly had a chance to change my mind within 10 days if I could not even get people to talk to me untill after my account was set up after 4 weeks. I do t plane on paying them more then the $368 first Month mortgage.

You could/should have cancelled in the grace period. Did you read the contract? Of course they lied to you when you called. That’s what ts salespeople do. The contract is all that matters.

I’d say if you file lawsuit against them and can make that argument about them telling u something else then what got and that contract not mention about 45 day rule either or does it mention it? Either way if u file lawsuit I have feeling they’d let u out of it bc they not want deal with it but obv it’d be headache but cheaper than 20k

Why are you only confined to a 45 day booking window? That doesn't make sense.

I believe bonus time is within 45 day period and there is a daily charge. I think poster either was mislead about bonus time or misunderstood

They drag out the account set up so you don't have the ability to test the system while you are still within the recission period.

So, if they bought a certain amount of points they should be able to use those points to make reservations much further out. I don't know the Bluegreen reservation timelines, but I suspect it would be much closer to a year in advance.

My points were only 5,000 per year. I was mislead in the bonus time as far as the time frame of 45 days out. Instead I was made to believe that it was business as usual to use bonus time when making all normal Reservations. The reason for this is when I was simply trying to make a four day reservation to include a Friday and Saturday those points jumped from 400 points each night on Wednesday and Thursday to 1,800 points on Friday and Saturday. That total came out to 4,400 point for one 4 night stay 9 months from now. So the only alternative is to hope that 7.5 months from now there will still be availability and I get to happily (sarcastically) spend money out of pocket to reserve the two more expensive points nights. So to use this $20,000 ownership I basically just paid for a discount program if I want to reserve a 4 night stay in only a 45 day window or just be happy with a 4-5 day reservation per year for the rest of my life.l not to mention the $1,200 maintenance fees forever which I was totally ok with before all the rest of details came to light. The sales pitch definitely showed me how to use my ownership to plan 4 vacations each year. Not limited to all being done in 45 days and not all being done by having to pay out of pocket every time. The worst part was that they said I could use my ownership to rent RV’s through the program “coast to coast”. They conveniently told me that simply was not true after 45 days of me asking them repeatedly how I could go about renting the RV with my points. The RV rental was the only reason I even purchased ownership with Bluegreen. I am more than happy with my Wyndham ownership that is hassle free and more that covers all of my reservations needs for 9 plus months out without a single extra expense out of pocket. They said that I never asked about RV rentals and then turned around and refused to acknowledge every phone conversation that was recorded for quality and training purposes where it most definitely was recorded that I asked about RV rentals every time. So in the end 10 days recision period won’t do much if you can't get anyone to explain or answer any questions about anything conveniently because of an owner account supposedly taking 4 weeks to be built.

Don't pay anything else and walk away.

I'm willing to literally bet my farm that suing them isn't going to work. The suit will be heard at the venue of their choice.
After speaking with a time share exit attourney, not time share exit team, that is exactly what I am going to do. Walk away.

That is exactly correct. That’s just one of the biggest three reasons this place should be ashamed of them selves and why this new Hilton Grand Vacations and merger will have a bad reputation. You would think Hilton would not want this type of owner experience with its new owners right after merging. What a scam.

So you want the recission period to last a year or more.

They drag out the account set up for 3 or 4 weeks but you only have 10 days to rescind. Under the current set up, you never get the chance to test the product before the rescission period ends. Imagine Amazon delivering your product only after the return period has passed. You open it and it is not what you ordered.

I hope in this case you financed and did not put a lot down .... whatever you spent is likely lost ....

Poster thought bonus time was any time. Not within 45 days. He/she wanted to book weekends with bonus time 9 months in advance and use points for cheaper weekdays. That is the complaint plus the purchase is very small, not enough for a week, barely for a long weekend.

have heard this story from multiple people (not the 45 day thing specifically)....but the IMPRESSION that is given to the new buyer that they have weeks to research and still likely cancel before anything really happens and their account is setup (which is true). this has become so common its one of the reasons why so many were advocating for the rescission period to last until a persons account was actually set up and active for them to use!

regardless of whats said, what is certainly NOT made clear is the fact that the owner only has a few short days to legally cancel.

The only thing I can add is that as always - read the actual contract. If you feel pressured to sign without reading, that is IMHO an obvious red flag. It really sucks that they've sold you too few points to buy a week, but they probably know if they'd told you you needed 20,000 points for the bookings they were showing at a cost of say $65,000 you would have walked.

Most Timeshare Organizations do not even begin the formal process to set up an account until the recission period has past. Why go to all the work to set up a new Account if the person is going to rescimd.

I think you could call in on the phone before the three weeks computer access was set up.

The correct decision. I hope you didn't spend anything/much with the attorney. Unnecessary.

Whatever you have already spent is lost. Sorry.

There is ONE other thing to think about before walking away -- if you can get a vacation out of all of this by using what you have already purchased -- take your vacation. You paid for it, after all. THEN walk away. If you have to make a lot of payments to use what you bought, then walk away immediately.

Just don't ever go on any more timeshare sales presentations. Ever. They have never offered me anything worth my time. And you're just setting yourself up to be pitched again. Some people take "revenge timeshare presentations" for the free stuff. But since the free stuff isn't free. And your time is worth more than some vouchers or show tickets, ignore them.

Once you have walked, bin their correspondence. Block their number. Perhaps even change your number.

You may want to read through this thread and the accompanying article and video. If you become a squeeky wheel you may see results. Chances are low, but we have seen it work for some people.

They can't set up your membership while you are in rescission because the membership is not available as it is in rescission.
