SDO as "Best" Trader?

I haven't seen a difference between Platinum and Gold Plus Season 1-52. I have one that is platinum. You would think there would be a slight difference, but it could be that my expectations are too high. Same with SBR platinum weeks, which I have a few, and no big deal.

To be a true Platinum week at Sheraton Desert Oasis the unit number must be in this range-

1064, 1072, 1081-1100, 2064, 2072, 2081- 2100, 3064-3072, and 3081-3100

AND the deeded week must be in this range: 1-21, 50-52
Super helpful. Do those unit numbers correspond in some way to the two or three story buildings? Or what distinguishes those units?

Sometimes I get this backwards, but the original resort was built by another company and sold to Starwood, after they had already sold some units as 1-52 weeks. When Starwood took it over, the started selling some of the units as Platinum weeks, because they had higher demand. On the SDO deeds, each deed has a specific week listed, even though it isn't a fixed week, because that documents that they aren't selling more units than the resort contains. That is the main difference.

Back in the day, before Marriott took over, people would buy resale Vistana timeshares and "requalify" them by making an additional purchase of a full-price week from the developer. The Plat weeks were prized, because they were worth more StarOptions. I don't know if that is still a thing or not.

I understand that most of the units were originally sold as 1-52 by that prior developer. Thus only a small number of units are actually part of the True Platinum and why they are more rare on the resale market.

I believe all those unit numbers are in the Buildings 7 and 8 sections which is the three story buildings but I don't know that it matters as it isn't a fixed unit property. I don't know why unit 1063 (a small 1BR) is the odd one out.
1064, 2064, 1072, 3064-3072 (xx64 is all three floors in the stack where 3064-3072 are all the top floor units in that section of building 7)
1081-1100, 2072, 2081- 2100 and 3081-3100

My deed says 11-2029 standard 1 bdrm.

I believe that means it is in building 11(I do not see this building on the map above) second floor unit 29. It says 1/52 interest so that must be the original developer. There is no week listed. FWIW, I have always used it as a trader.

Is there a maint fee difference between the std 1 bdrm and the small 1 bdrm? I assume the small 1 bdrm trades the same as a standard 1 bdrm in Interval.

There is a MF difference between small and large 1-bed units. The large 1-bed trades better, but not by much.

I'm curious if the "deeded week" range of 1-21, 50-52 is actually reflected in the deed, or if it is just the unit number that is determinative?

Both a week number (not the range) and a unit number show on the deed.

A true platinum will have one of the required unit numbers and a deeded week within the range 1-21 & 50-52.

Ah, now I get it! Thanks!

The Resale Information Sheet (estoppel) from Vistana/Marriott should show the season and range of weeks available to book.
Waiting for it! We are not purchasing a platinum week - I was just curious as to what that would look like on a deed for future reference.

Been using MVC CPs via Abound (WKV P+) and been staying weekdays in a studio at Vegas Grand Chateau (<60 days reservation @ 30% discount as Chairman) for a total cost of $65/night.

(unfortunately) this is the way now.

I go 1-2 times a year for long weekends and used to take advantage of the Amex Platinum Fine Hotels and Resorts deals and credits for about 20 years - always found decent+ deals at places like Bellagio, Delano, Venetian/Palazzo, Wynn etc. Since they jacked up the prices and resort fees (mostly post-covid) I find myself frequenting MGC more often even at the cost of letting those Amex Platinum hotel credits go unused.

The good old days following @duke (iirc) famous requal thread. Lots of SDO requals based on the VOIs that were worth 148.1K SOs. There is a post that lists the villa numbers of these SDO VOIs. There was a big movement to get to 5*/PFL using these resale SDO purchases.
Then Aug 2022 happens and it turns out that all you needed were enough SOs from resale Mandatory VOIs to get 5*/PFL equivalent as MVC Chairman. TYVM MVC ;)
Do these Plat SDO VOIs still have good resale value?

I wonder what ever happened to @SDKath and @Westin5Star and others?

I had preseason hope for the Giants that ended when the season started.

They are both busy and doing well - I exchange emails with both of them from time to time.
