Dilbert creator 'has DAYS to live' as ex-wife shares devastating health update on legendary cartoonist

The creator of the legendary Dilbert cartoon has just days to live and is receiving hospice care, his ex-wife revealed.
Scott Adams, 68, has been battling an aggressive form of prostate cancer and admitted earlier this year that the 'odds of recovery' were 'essentially zero.'
But now his first wife Shelly Adams has laid bare the bleak reality of his condition, telling TMZ he has been receiving 'end-of-life care at home for the past week.'

I always enjoyed Dilbert. RIP Scott Adams

Dilbert was great - the online pontificator Scott Adams became later in life ... well I'm not sad that's over.

RIP Scott Adams. He was a wonderful humorist and human being.
Not all the time.

He graduated from the same college as my husband (much later) and we all worked at Pacific Bell at the same time (never met him). It's some of his later actions, the ones that caused him to get dropped from many newspapers that leave a bad taste in many people's mouths. Again, we can mourn the death.

why oh why do some insist on trying to get things shut down with posts... this is not a question.

It's unfortunate that our beloved TUG Forums are more and more skirting the boundaries of what's acceptable here.

Yes let's all only post the light, airy positive things and ignore everything else. Sorry, but when something is posted that contradicts the truth, people will speak out. If the moderators think any of the posts are in violation of anything, they can be removed.

Giving political extremists a safe space while they dog-whistle to their tribe is a mistake.

Here's a story about a bartender at a bar for punk rockers throwing out extremists:

"you have to nip it in the bud immediately. These guys come in and it's always a nice, polite one. And you serve them because you don't want to cause a scene. And then they become a regular and after awhile they bring a friend. And that dude is cool too.

And then THEY bring friends and the friends bring friends and they stop being cool and then you realize, oh *bleep*, this is a Nazi bar now. And it's too late because they're entrenched and if you try to kick them out, they cause a PROBLEM. So you have to shut them down.

And i was like, 'oh damn.' and he said "yeah, you have to ignore their reasonable arguments because their end goal is to be terrible, awful people."

Is their view “extreme” or simply different from yours?
In all honestly at what point did we not all appreciate the gift of being Americans and have different viewpoints?

Lesson learned here. I will go back to just interacting on TUG about timeshares & travel in general.

WOW . . . since it was my post that you quoted, it appears you're calling me a political extremist . . . looking to incite others to be "terrible, awful people."

I'm sincerely disappointed that my initial comment in this thread was naive and not reflective of the man's last couple of years of life.

You're lamenting people correctly stating facts about a beloved individual who turned out to be deeply, deeply flawed.

It's the same thing with Bill Cosby -- you can love Fat Albert, sure. But not mentioning the other baggage is a mistake. To ignore it is to become an apologist for it. "De mortuis nil nisi bonum" is pulled out too often. Or it should come with a caveat: "sed non mentiri vel supprimere."

That is not what I did!

We all need some self-reflection and humility before judging others imho.
