On other board someone made the comment that they check available of dates at a Destination escape resort first on regular points, assuming that if it not available full price it won't be available as an escape.
Does anyone know if that is true. That escapes are a subset of availability or do they pull those dates out.
I would assume they would try and sell them at full price if they can while also offering them at escape price but wondering if anyone really knows.

I think your assumptions are correct. In the past, MVC also limited how many of those that are available as Escapes, even though there might be more available with regular booking for the dates. I haven't circled back in 2 years so I do not know if that still holds true.

I checked in with another rep this morning and it appears she was able to pull up plenty of DE inventory at both properties I was asking about yesterday, The rep from yesterday was NOT looking at DE inventory.

I checked on availability with a Marriott employee (?) yesterday, she stated that there was very limited options both in dates and accommodations although DE clearly shows that not to be the case. So..call again to talk with someone different?

So are you saying that inventory will show as not available for full points but will be available for Escape?

No, the first rep was only looking at regular inventory, full pts (or up to 30% discount depending on your elite level)... The second rep found the DE inventory list that were at the posted DE prices (like Guestroom 3 nights 160 Club Points, 1BD 3 nights at 360 Club Points). After reading more and in hindsight, what gave it away the first rep did not know what he was talking about was he mentioned DE point pricing was DYNAMIC, when in fact it is inventory that is dynamic but pricing is fixed based on unit type and nights.

I am still confused. It sound like you are saying the first rep look for your a reservation on say Oct 1 and didn't see any availability with regular reservation. Then you called back and the second rep was able to find you inventory on Oct 1 for a Destination escape?
or are you saying that the first rep found it but it was full price because they didn't know what they were doing.
The underlying question is DE an subset of inventory or a complete separate bucket that is pulled out.
(so Oct 1 could be reserved with DE or regular, but say Oct 7 was only available regular)

What do you mean "DE clearly shows that not to be the case?" Are you talking about the list on the website? Because that is often outdated. Did you specifically ask them to look for DE inventory?

How hard is it to update lists on websites??
Apparently very difficult. I had this conversation in terms of minimum stay requirements and was told it was not possible to list those anywhere for members to see because it was fluid. Minimum say requirements should be far more consistent that DE inventory. IMO they should give access to both online and actually the ability to book DE online shouldn't be that difficult.
