Does anyone know if you call Bonvoy if they will still extend a free night expiration date? I know they used to and I've done it before in the past, but I seem to recall reading that they won't do it anymore.

I have an 85k AMEX FNA that expires in December that would be very valuable to me for a Maui trip in March. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I don't know specific to AMEX but the Chase Boundless ones (that are actually just points now) strictly cut this off a few years back.

I have never succeeded in extending them.
If you got them to extend [maybe COVID exception], you were lucky.

They used to routinely extend them 3-6 months, before COVID. Personal experience and lots of posts on here about it. If anything, they ended extension during or after COVID due to so many unused.

I have not seen any reports of anyone successful in getting them extended anymore. You them or lose them seems to be the hard and fast policy now.

Doesn't hurt to call and ask. I would inform them about your intentions of using it for a specific date and hotel. They might be able to move it.

I seen reports of the extending the FNC a week or two when calling to make a reservation, but never longer than that.

I had a Chase one where I knew the hotel and the date was the very next day after expiration and they wouldn't extend it.

I just had one expired this month. I was not given an extension when I called Marriott.
