Thanks but I still don't see it. Maybe it's because I have a Vistana account and not a Marriott account. I seem to remember having this problem before which is why I grabbed a URL someone posted and have been using it for the past couple of years to see what was available.

Just found it as I'd texted it to my daughter a while back :)

Well that's absolutely not made my day as I have 2x2BR reserved for one of those dates and paid full points price. I did do it 12 months in advance though as needed peace of mind around long term family vacation plans for 10-12 of us.
You could call and see if they can rebook using the lower point values and you'll get back those extra points in a holding account.

On the Vistana website, the link can be found under Escapes
  • Select Escapes from the Dashboard (see 1st screen capture)
  • Select the Club Points tab at the top (see 2nd screen capture)
  • Scroll down the page and click on the link to explore featured resorts (see 3rd screen capture)

If more than 2 families are traveling in your party, perhaps you can book a third unit (at a much lower price) to give everyone extra space.

Do you have enough points to make a new booking and cancel one of the old ones, once the booking is assured? Otherwise, maybe a customer service rp can look into it.

Thanks, I think I must be cursed because my Dashboard screen looks exactly like yours but when I select Escapes is just takes me to a screen where I'm asked to enter details to subscribe. I entered name/email thinking it would then give me your 2nd screen but no! Tried multiple browsers too but they all do the same

Thanks everyone. I'll call and look into what's possible, although they were booked with banked points so any I get back will probably expire 12/31/25 and I'm not sure I could use them.

So, I found two locations/times I maybe interested in and called the # listed on the webpage (800-650-5720) to see about booking. Rep says the list online is not always current/accurate inventory-wise. It is first come-first-get. When the rep helped me check a few random resorts (3 resorts in addition to the two I was interested in) for both October and November, NONE of the posted Destination Escape reduced prices were available. Only the standard 30% off (which I think is the Executive or Presidential 60 day discount?).

So, is this all smoke-and-mirrors? Has anyone successfully booked anything at the steep Destination Escape posted prices ?

I guess it depends on the location and when you called.
I was able to book a Destination Escape in late August for a late October stay.

We have booked multiple Destination Escapes. These are real, just very limited inventory. You need to look every week. (I think they update on Wednesdays, but not necessarily every week.) You will learn the pattern of what is new/changed, and then immediately pull the trigger if you see something you want. We have always called the day they updated and got what we wanted.

So, can you confirm this inventory cannot be seen online? The rep I spoke with says I can see the inventory online and the discounts varies. A few he pulled up were 30% off.

I'm not sure what you are asking. You said you saw Destination Escapes (DE) online, so you have seen the listings on the website. (Many have posted screenshots of how they look.) But, I think you are confusing two different things. Forget about the resorts the rep looked up with discounts.

As I and others noted, DE are extremely limited off season deals for specific listed properties and dates for 3, 4, and 7 night stays in various room sizes (likely the lowest view category if they exist at a resort.) They have a fixed point cost (see examples in earlier comments) based on length of stay and room size, across all available resorts.

However, you cannot see "live" current availability. The DE page only shows availability as of the time the page is updated with new listings, which is periodically (see my comment #37.) After that you have to call and see if it is still available at the DE rate. (The resort could have availability during the same time at the regular point values.)

There are no percentage discounts, and this has nothing to do with searching regular inventory with or without any applicable tier savings. Either the rep or you (or both) were confused about what they were telling you.

The rep said I can simply look online for DE availability the same way I would look up any booking-with-points and if there were DE inventory available, it would show the discount on the calendar. From what you stated, I think the rep was not trained well - he was confused on how to look up DE inventory for me (the caller).

Anyways, I will try calling again tomorrow to check on the same two resorts I am interested in to see if they can see any DE inventory for the dates I like.

There is no way online to determine which subset of dates have been selected for Destination Escapes.
Tell them you're looking for Destination Escape availability (which is different than the discounts associated with your Abound Ownership Levels - see attachment).

Here's what I did:
  • Before contacting them, I pulled the Destination Escape page to confirm the latest availability per resort.
  • Perhaps I made the wrong assumption, but I assumed Destination Escape was a subset of current Abound availability. So I actually checked current Abound availability before contacting them (why bother if nothing was currently available for the dates I wanted to travel ).
  • I then contacted them and asked for the current list of available dates for 3, 4 and 7 nights for my desired resorts & months.

Update from a Marriott thread.
I checked in with another rep this morning and it appears she was able to pull up plenty of DE inventory at both properties I was asking about yesterday, The rep from yesterday was NOT looking at DE inventory.

As we all expected.
