We just returned from a week in the Smoky Mountains which was a wonderful trip with several couples in our family. The reason I'm posting here is that the Horizon's resort for Gatlinburg would have been adjacent to the Bluegreen resort property. I sure wish they would have followed through on building that resort.

I wish they would have built that resort, too. The area is beautiful.

What is on the land now that would have been the Horizons Branson?

All the info I have for location is a photo of a tax map from years ago. It literally abuts the back side of the current Bluegreen Mountainloft resort and if I'm looking at the map correctly, a portion of the Mountainloft resort (phase 2) sits on the very edge of the parcel labeled "Marriott Ownership Resorts Inc; 82.02 Acres". It looks like access would have been from the North off Eagle Trail. I must assume that BG bought part or all of the acreage. It would have been a beautiful location and likely some of the better views in that area since it would have been higher elevation than Mountainloft. It might have been a bear when snow or ice was on the ground though.

Agree completely. This would have made a great MVC resort. Really a shame it never got built.
