Purchase a timeshare June 28, 2025 in Orlando at Holiday Inn club vacation did not receive any information until August 1 and after carefully reading then I realize that my time had passed for cancellation just made the first monthly payment August 12 and now I no longer want it because Nothing is available when you go to book and then they charge you these extra cost for booking that was not mentioned and also it’s not cheaper than other websites please help. I’m in the process of writing a cancellation letter. Does anyone have any feedback of how I can get out of this timeshare? I also found out that WRL stands for Wilson resort finance and when I looked it up, it says that company is no longer in business and it’s listed on my purchase agreement.

It's too late to rescind. You could have a credit score hit if you stop paying. This is the only way out after missing the rescission period unless you can prove fraud which is very difficult to do.

You might try learning how to use your new timeshare. I think you have access to at least 30 resorts. There are options such as exchanging through one of the exchange companies or renting the unit out.

Wilson Resort Finance still shows as an Active LLC in the state of Florida.

So when you purchased on June 28th you were given absolutely no paperwork or information? I thought the timeshare sales folk were required (by law?) to give the purchaser a copy of the contract. That would have the cancellation instructions in it, usually near the signatures page. I have heard of some places giving a USB stick with the contract and all info on it -same thing, the cancellation instructions would be included on it. Sorry for your predicament, you can try writing a letter but dont expect your cancellation wish to be honoured at this late date.

As easyrider said, you have 2 choices. Stop paying and face the consequences or learn how to use what you have bought and enjoy some wonderful vacations. Owning a timeshare (since 1982) has enabled our family to take vacations in much nicer and way more spacious accommodations than we could have afforded to rent, but our total purchase costs for the 2 of them combined was $2,500.US.

I'm sorry to hear about your plight. In addition to what others have said above, I will give you this other piece of advice that's emphasized many times here on TUG. Do not go seeking the "help" of these cancel/exit companies, charities, or law firms that claim they can get you out of your contract or sue the sales people or resort. These are scams.

I am there now (Williamsburg, VA) and the resort's are decent. I usually have no problems booking what I want. You understand that this is a timeshare so you want to book at least 6 months out or more, otherwise there will be limited availability. This is a downside of timeshares. Now, they do occasionally have availability in the next 30-60 days and sometimes at a discount, but I would not hold out for that.

When I was tricked into mine two month ago the paperwork was 381 pages of DocuSign e-documents. They gave me a link and told me that account information would be made available in about a month. I'm assuming the same was true for the OP, and that it was the account login information need to view availability and attempt to book a reservation that didn't arrive until August 1st.

My condolences. How many points did you purchase? How far in advance are you trying to book?

That would have taken some time go go through them but you should have been able to visit the link and at least read the documents even before the account was set up to allow you to book. Did you ask for a print copy of your contract, or even one loaded onto a USB stick, before leaving the sales office? As I said I am pretty sure a buyer must be given some sort of proof (documents) describing what they bought. Just like when you make a purchase at Walmart, you get a receipt telling you what you bought. Many places tell folks it takes time to get the account information so the legal rescind period expires and they cant cancel the purchase. Wastegate used to (& may still) hide the cancellation instructions in a secret pocket hidden close to the spine/center fold of the folder with the brochures and advertising about the company.

We owned a fixed week and a points Timeshare at Orange Lake. We also used day privileges to go play golf or visit River Island. I no longer have the timeshares but We got a lot of use out them. Check your paperwork to make sure the home Resort is Orange Lake, others on TUG said their contracts listed other HIVC resorts as the home resort. My sister goes to Orange Lake thru RCI exchange and they try to have her do a sales presentation each time, I’ve advised her not to do it. So far she hasn’t bought in. If you can’t cancel, try to make use of it. You can also use IHG for hotel stays.

Oh, I got out. I was just commenting on how the documents were given to me as recent 2025 retail purchaser, and to be fair those 381 pages included everything from the company charter to the resort directory/point cost matrix in addition to the actual contract. It still took me 3 days before I was satisfied that "I am writing the rescind letter because the salesman mislead me on a package that does not work for my needs as advertised" instead of "I am writing the rescind letter because a package I was happy to buy happens to be available resale at a discount"

And yes, it seems to be standard for companies to try and wait for the rescind period to expire before providing account information.
