Ours NCV sales lady assured us that the resale week we bought in 2020 was a fluke...

When we were at NCV in July our sales lady assured us that us getting a deeded week there through Redweek in 2020 was entirely a fluke and that in the 30 years she's worked for Marriott she had only seen TWO resale weeks pass ROFR ( not just at NCV but at ALL Marriott resorts). She said it is extremely rare and that people online make it seem like they are easy to get but that Marriott basically picks up every deeded week that is listed on Redweek.

So, My question is.... We are going to be back in October - Do I book an other owner update, take the 300$ and then let her know that we just had another deeded week at NCV pass ROFR for like 1200$ LESS than our week that passed in 2020? Or is that too big of a "miracle" to share with her? LOL

lol! That is nuts! We don’t even bother to do the sales presentation at NCV anymore…we told them we purchased four extra weeks resale and they leave us alone now. Really, our phone never rings, and no messages are left like there used to be when we would come. It’s pretty sad they blatantly lied to you…like I said we have had 4 pass rofr in the last couple of years…and if she has been here 30 years….was NCV around 30 years ago??? Maybe it was. We purchased our first ncv 20 years ago and the property wasn’t finished then. But if she really has worked here for 30 years…well, she isn’t telling the truth….or maybe the sales people don’t look at rofr, so they technically aren’t lying. Who knows?
Good for you for buying resale.

We never waste valuable vacation time on presentations. Your out-of-pocket cost to pay for a half-day of vacation time (a portion of your airfare and MF's, lost earnings or vacation time, etc.) likely exceeds what they propose to pay you; besides, who needs the lies and who needs the stress?

Westin Nanea is only offering 40K Marriott points for a presentation. We received 50K at Sheraton Steamboat last month. If they up it to 50K, I might be tempted, but we have friends on the island.

I don't think NCV was around 30 years ago but she worked at other resorts. I just thought it was funny that she insisted that NO ONE actually gets through ROFR. LOL

NCV has always had the highest pressure sales people that we've met with. I HATE going there but my husband loves taking their 300$. All the deeded weeks we own we have purchased resale and we make sure we tell everyone we know to do it the same way - my husband loves to bring it up and watch them lie to us though. LOL

I hate it too but my husband loves that 300$ LOL. I honestly think we will pass on it when we go back in October, I just thought it was funny.

I don't like people who lie with impunity
I do not go to timeshare presentations because most are misleading and filled with lies and half truths
If I want to interact with such people
There are plenty of threads on social media that start out with either lies or clickbait headlines

NCV is where we had to wait out our 90 minutes just sitting there since our pitch only went 20 minutes before I called the guy out as a liar. Good thing my wife brings her iPad along to these things.

I would absolutely take it.
I will start the conversation by reminding the sales person about what you just posted. I doubt your presentation will last up to 60 minutes.

They made you stay there the whole 90 min??? They wouldn’t let you just leave? Was anyone w you from Marriott or were you by yourself? When was this? Wow, the truth hit them hard. Good for you. It’s sad they feel the need to lie.

I wouldn't even mention it if the salesperson doesn't bring it up. Either they are ill informed or lying, either way there is no benefit to trying to educate them.

I think I had the same sales person last summer staying there on an exchange. She swore that they got a memo from "HQ" saying NCv would not be deposited in Interval anymore starting in 2025. Sales "closer" said the same thing. I said well I guess we will just have to see how 2025 goes. We will be returning to NCV this December on an Interval exchange.

We sat out the rest of our 90 minutes in the waiting area for the sales gallery. They sent no encore person to pitch that to us and we left after our 90 minutes were up. It was in September 2024.

LOL. We were there in July and decided to to accept their offer of 50k Bonvoy points even though we can’t stand the vast majority of sales reps we’ve met there. The rep this time saw how many times we have attended meetings over the years and said “well I guess you won’t be buying anything today.” He said we had to sit there for 90 minutes and he left. We didn’t think ahead, so my DW went to our unit and got our iPads. We spent about 15 minutes before he returned and released us.

I had a similar experience at Grand Chateau. The sales lady was trying to scare me with BS about the new Florida timeshare laws and printed out something showing that my maintenance fees were going to be $10,000 per week. I told her she was full of crap and asked for the paper. She quickly left the room with it and left us in the room alone for almost an hour before someone else finally came back and sent us on our way.

Wow, that is rude. It seems that the ruder they are, the more they are desired as salespeople. Laughing all the way to the bank because a lot of people believe their lies.

I am far more likely to trust a politician than a timeshare salesperson.

As if sales weasels have any access to the internal MVC ROFR accepts/declines. How stupid of a claim.

Hilton can be just as bad making you wait the full time. Last Fall we were at a DRI/HVC in Tahoe. Our Salesman stormed out after about 20 minutes. He appeared hung over. We had to wait the full time.

I believe sales has been saying this since 2010 when the Abound program started. Exchanging must be so unprofitable that MVC decided to buy the exchange company.

At MKO a fee years ago the sales rep had us wait until our 90 minutes were up. Fine with us, as wife and I just went to our phones for entertainment. I think next time this happens, I will start talking loudly to wife about how resales are so much cheaper and to use TUG for research. I bet i won't be in the sales office for the rest of the 90 min.

That might not work for us. We usually schedule for the last tour time of the day as it fits best with our schedule. Especially when we are traveling on the west coast. When we were at NCV, there were no other guests there except perhaps someone in an office signing Encore paperwork. All I saw was staff. I thought they would be wanting to get out and go home.

Everyone talks about how the Marriott sales people are above the sleazy behavior. That's a load of crap. I've had the worst experiences with Marriott. The new sales center on Hilton Head was the worst. Prior to that the one at Surfwatch was so bad that I also called out the sales manager as a liar, but I actually think that he just didn't know what he was talking about which is even more pathetic. I generally attend virtual sales sessions now, and those are much easier and the folks are very straight forward.
